Let's be clear. It's a violation of our airspace. Is it the biggest deal in the world? No. Spy planes, satellites,....and our internet tough guys freak out over a balloon 🎈

No. Spy planes, satellites,....and our internet tough guys freak out over a balloon 🎈 You really don't get this, do you? China has violated our air space. An aircraft flying at less than 100,000 feet would be in the same position. Look up Gary Powers. I'm not sure anyone flies aircraft for surveillance purposes, at least among the major powers. Satellites have made aircraft surveillance obsolete, at least for strategic purposes. Aircraft still have tactical value, especially as drones. Satellites do not violate air space because they fly above 100,000 feet. What is your acceptable level? 20,000 feet? 30,000?

China will say nothing. China sees how easy it is to make the US of A act like a fool. Actually they proved it's easy for the USA under Biden to walk right in That's Three times now the USA caught off guard 1941 2001 2023 Tell me you are not comparing this balloon flyover with the entrance of the USA into WWII or the taking down the twin towers. Do you have any idea how silly that is? Was it an incursion? Of course. Did we have a right to blow it to smithereens? Absolutely! Was it a horrendous attack on America and Americans? Hardly... This is more similar to our U2 flights over the Soviet Union.

Ye god's.

You miss the point, adversaries walked right in by surprise again. Total fail! If adversaries "walked right in by surprise" with a balloon, you have many far more serious problems to worry about than Biden. Jesus, you guys really crack me up, just listen to yourselves.

What's tragic is the way that you have got your knickers in a twist, and Ishmael's "violation of our airspace" claptrap, I'm only surprised that he didn't throw in that it was unconstitutional as well. Y'all are making yourselves look mega foolish (or should that be Maga foolish) over what doesn't really amount to a hill of beans in world events.

Apparently the military has been tracking these Chinese balloons for years without saying much about them.
The balloons have been spotted over other countries the last few years. The Tweets below are over a year old:
Not sure why they chose to make a big fuss over it now other than maybe using it as an excuse to postpone the first high level meeting between the Biden administration and China’s President.
It’s theater…

You folks take far too much pleasure in mocking those you think are not your equal. The balloon was in U.S. airspace. There are laws about that. And people had every right to be concerned.

Powers U-2 was caught with its pants down while spying on the USSR during the Cold War, at a time that we didn't have the satellite technology available to do the same job. This balloon wouldn't be able to gather any better info than our satellites can these days. Perhaps you should try that for context. All this hoo-ha is just some over excitable republican, very high-altitude, "Get off my lawn" yelling.

Which is exactly what this action addressed - a violation of our airspace. Or don't you think the U.S. should have any protected airspace? "Get off my lawn" indeed.

The debris landed in 47 feet of water, shallower than officials had expected, and it spread out over roughly seven miles

A game that we and Russia play, but with real aircraft in real airspace (sub 50,000 feet). Off course you should have "protected airspace", but at least get real about it. It. Was. A. Balloon. There has been no need for all the hysterics about it

That's just how I was trained when I worked DOD years back.

You miss the point, adversaries walked right in by surprise again. Total fail! First, you don't have the security clearance to know if this was a surprise or not to those charged with protecting the integrity of our airspace, nor would they be in a position to confirm or deny. As someone who constantly brags about your security clearance and work for the defense department, all you have is conjecture about who know what and when. Quotes like this makes me thankful you aren't in charge of such important matters. Second, I can't tell if you're just a parody account or if you're for real (though I suspect you may be violating some agreements by doing so). Either way, your thoughts, mostly dim, are not worth much more of my time, if any of it. Enjoy!

All this hoo-ha is just some over excitable republican, very high-altitude, "Get off my lawn" yelling. This may be the dumbest post you have ever made here. Whether we have satellite technology available is absolutely immaterial to anything. And actually, whether it was a surveillance balloon or not is equally immaterial. The device was in our air space, just as Powers' U2 was in Russia's airspace. This isn't that hard to understand. If it was an uncontrolled asset, it represented a risk to aviation. If it was a controlled asset, it represented a potentially much more dire risk. And we don't know, yet, what capabilities were actually on the balloon. All your silliness is just some blind, liberal, "please don't hurt us" quaking.
