Don't know why exactly but her death landed hard. These early club musicians are practically bulletproof given all the abuse they've given their body. She survived off French 75s (cocaine and champagne). John Mayall is still styling. He must be edging on 90. I want what they're having.
She was lovely and it's my eternal shame I didn't go to see them at the Hollywood Palace in Catonsville when they made their first tour as the new FM. I suspect since Fleetwood and McVie were die hard blues guys that Christine probably had an outsized part in getting them out of London.
I've come full circle on Buckingham. He's one of the hugely overlooked guitarists of rock.

Bob Welch and Christine entered the band after the void Peter Green's breakdown created. Welch saved the group at least for 2 albums. You can hear Christine's contralto in the background:
