I don’t see how it’s a “Colts-like disaster” if the team is sleeking a longer lease.
There have been rumors of the team leaving for a city like Nashville for a few years now. I don’t see it. OPACY is a crowded jewel of a stadium. The Orioles, as terribly run as they may be, would be foolish to move.

I remember the heartbreak in Baltimore when Irsay stole the Colts from under our noses. All because Baltimore wouldn't build a new stadium.

Now, that said if not for the fact that we have our own version of "Family Feud" going on I would totally agree with you. They would be foolish to move. But do remember two things, first off the footdragging on a long term agreement in the guise of wanting a longer term deal. IMHO that is buying time for the feud to play out. And secondly, it's all about the Benjamins. All this 'rah rah' we love the city is just so much BS. How many business (other than sports) that had roots 🙄 in Baltimore and said the same thing. Where are they now? This is a business, not your local HS football or lacrosse team. That is a difference that can't be ignored. So time will tell. But I would suggest that no one buy seasons tickets after this year when the last extension expires. (See Colts for background).

I don't understand why the Orioles feel entitled to the land around the stadium. They share it with the Ravens.
John Angelos is worse than his daddy.

Hopefully the two franchises work together to revitalize that area. Currently it's pretty neglected, IMO. Pretty much a wasteland around the parking lots.

There's stuff being developed around the casino, but other parts have limited options with neighborhoods and highways. Getting rid of parking lots for lame, overpriced attractions probably won't go over too well with the tailgate crowd.

The Stadium Authority can do to him what Curran did to his dad! Curran tried the tobacco settlement terms in the court of public opinion, framing Peter as a greedy thief stealing from the public fisc. Which he was, but if the state agreed to the terms it still shouldn't have bellyached. Peter eventually took a smaller fee.

Close to highways, water and railway tunnels. What John Boy wants is not realistic. The surface level parking is stipulated by the Ravens so there can be tailgating. A short walk from either stadium gets you to several establishments for pre and postgaming. If Harborplace is ever revitalized that presents another opinion as well. I think the Baltimore gameday experience is actually pretty good...probably top half, if not top 3rd, of either league. I watched a YouTube video the other day and they ranked Baltimore at #2 in the country for NFL stadium mass transit access. Ironically, the light rail service was suspended the next day. I'm all for making improvements but they have to be realistic. What John Boy wants is a land grab. He can go pound sand.

Stadium experience could definitely be worse. When I went to a Mets game over the summer, the subway dumps you out right there which was nice, but Citi Field is just surrounded by a giant parking lot. Might have been something in walking distance, but it wasn't evident.

Might have been something in walking distance, but it wasn't evident. To the east of the stadium there used to be a hodgepodge of slightly dodgy car repair places. Like, the parts are cheap because they’re stolen dodgy. The city has cleared most of that away and there are grand plans for a something there. I heard casino, I heard mixed use commercial/residential, I heard a stadium for NYCFC, I dunno. In any event, they’re trying to make it a thing, not just a stadium surrounded by parking lots.
