Saudi Arabia declares support for South Africa's case. Might be the final nail in the coffin for Israel-Saudi normalization plans Saudi Arabia is not a helpful ally in any case involving human rights.

Might be the final nail in the coffin for Israel-Saudi normalization plans Saudi Arabia is not a helpful ally in any case involving human rights. I agree. They have a horrible human rights record. Just noting that there was still some hope within Biden's administration that the Saudis and Israelis would complete their normalization deal soon. My guess is that this decision by the Saudis makes that policy objective less likely.

The fact that these hearings are mostly being ignored by the mainstream media speaks volumes. I'm not surprised that your mainstream media is ignoring the ICJ hearings. The BBC is giving them more attention. Israel officials support Gaza destruction, court hears. Also noticeable is how schtum the usual Israel apologist suspects have become, in recent weeks.

It’s not too late to do the right thing I can’t see Biden making a move like this ever. And if a Republican wins in November they won’t do anything either. Not sure what it would take.

It’s concerning that both parties have shifted to the Right on Israel at a time when Israel is becoming more fascist and extremist. The bottom-line is, the status quo in Israel is unsustainable. But rather than go the civil rights route by extending citizenship or equal rights as the US and South Africa did, the extremist view that the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank should be driven out (to other countries) seems to be increasingly accepted in Israel.

Unfortunately they probably won’t get Nobels because most western leaders unconditionally support Israel.

Recent polling shows that Germans overwhelmingly disapprove of Israel's actions in Gaza www.forschungsgruppe.de/Aktuelles/Politbarometer/I suspect that most western governments that are covering for Israel are doing so against the wishes of most of their citizens.

Rage against the machine! I will say it again. I can't remember being in contact with another American citizen who so actively roots against the United States on an almost daily basis. The US government doesn't speak for or represent our best interests. They represent the interests of the Banks and other corporate elites. There are good people who work for our government but the political leaders in charge from both parties routinely make bad decisions. If you're okay with our government being complicit in a genocide, I shudder to ask where you would've stood on our government's relations with Germany in the 1930s.

He would have stood where all the other duly indoctrinated civilians stood at that time.

You can both bugger right off with your implication that I would have been fine with Hitler in the 1930s.

I did state that you would have gone with whatever your government policy was at that time, big difference. How should I bugger or F off, master? 🧐

South Africans can relate to what Palestinians experience. It’s a shame that this trial is turning into the Global South vs Western Europe but that’s the path chosen by those who unconditionally support Israel…
