At 70 I have seen some pretty messed up characters that ran for office at all levels. And more importantly, GOT into office.
I have NEVER seen so many people that are running to be able to or are already controlling the levers and switches. That frankly, I wouldn't trust to take care of our cats if we took a vacation.

No one in the whole country needs Kari Lake in the Senate. For real. Republicans are pretty much a lock to win the Senate this fall but I sure hope it’s not because a lunatic like her won.

Republicans believe they can pick up a seat in Ohio although recent polls show Sherrod Brown as leading.

"The Constitution sets three qualifications for service in the U.S. Senate: age (at least thirty years of age); U.S. citizenship (at least nine years); and residency in the state a senator represents at time of election. The details of these qualifications were hammered out by the Constitution's framers during the Constitutional Convention in 1787."
Anyone?

With Sen. Hirono and possibly a Sen. Schiff in the chamber, no one is going to notice Lake's relative sanity.

Sinema ran as a democrat and turned out to be a Trojan horse for the republicans. Her voters presumably want to correct that treachery not put it on steroids. Gallego from the interviews I've seen is capable competent and, most importantly, genuine. Then in the other cornet you have Lake a total lunatic. All fads have their day. The lunatic moon is waning.

You're pretty much going to give West Virginia to the Republicans so that's a 50-50 senate right there.
Democratic pick up opportunities are against two unpopular senators - Cruz - TX and Scott - Fl - but both those are long shots.
Nevada is going to be critical. A recent poll has the Democratic incumbent up by 6 but we'll see.

which is why I said on the other thread that there's no way I'll vote for a Republican until the scourge of Trumpism is gone

Hogan, like many of the supposedly anti-Trump Republicans, is unable or unwilling to acknowledge what has happened to the Republican party.
His claims of being unsupportive of Trump are largely just lip service.

You're just another (R) vote in a Senate that has too many of those now. Votin' against you, buddy. Thanks for your time as governor, but, no.

Frosh is extremely liberal but not unhinged. That's going to drive his disinterest in seeing Hogan elected. My disinterest in seeing that is that Hogan will be one more pro-Trump voice, because that's what the GOP is, now: Trump's creature.

Pray tell, why would anyone expect him to not caucus with the Republican Party? Do you think he is going to caucus with the Democrats? That makes absolutely no sense. And if he is in anyway going to effect change in the Republican Party, is someone naive enough to think that will occur from outside the Republican Party?
I don't know how to tell you guys this in a gentle manner, but "Mister Smith goes to Washington" was fiction.

It means "to meet with' not necessarily "to vote the same as". How can Hogan, or anyone else, have any influence on Senate (R)s if he refuses to meet with them? I wish I was an orthopedist. I could make a fortune treating all the uncontrollable knee jerk problems here.
