I'm really glad I went to the Yucatan and Southern Mexico when I did. I'm not one to be skittish about travel but I keep hearing horror stories about the drug gangs. It just sounds much worse then when I went in the 90s

It just sounds much worse then when I went in the 90s It's a lot worse than it was just 5-10 years ago. I went to Yucatan in 2015 and drove all over the place in my own rental car including a cenote that was a half hour into the jungle. Never felt unsafe for a moment. I've been to Mexico several times but I too don't think I'd go under these current conditions. The last time I went was 2018 and the cartel bombed a ferry. We could hear the explosion from our house and see the smoke. Thankfully no one was killed.

Anybody that goes to Mexico now is either naive or uninformed or crazy.
The same can be said for people who go the NYC, Chicago, LA or San Francisco.
Y'all should go the the American Southwest. According to Kandace nothing has changed there since 1881.

But I have nothing against informed generalizations such as the ones I posted.

This post is uninformed. And I thought you didn't like hasty generalizations. I don't. But I have nothing against informed generalizations such as the ones I posted. There are roughly 15M people living in the cities you mentioned. Are they all naive, uniformed or crazy? 175M people visit those cities annually. Are they all naive, uninformed or crazy? I visit my friends in Brooklyn all the time. Am I uninformed, naive or crazy? 66M people visit Mexico annually. Are they all uninformed, naive or crazy? Do you ever leave your assisted living community and experience the real world instead of parroting right-wing talking points about it? You're the one who sounds naive, uninformed or crazy here.
