Caught some Fox45 "News" at the gym today. I said a couple weeks ago that they were basically an ad for Sheila Dixon, but today was extra ridiculous.
So of course the main focus is their "City in Crisis" coverage of Baltimore. They start by talking about drastic drop in homicides last year and continuing this year. The piece begins by discussing who deserves credit, Scott or Bates, and there's no doubt who they're crediting and it's not Scott. They then show a "reporter" asking the same thing to Ivan Bates on the street. He gives a politically neutral answer and the reporter follows it by leading the question where they want it to go, "People are saying that you and the US attorney deserve most of the credit, what are your thoughts?" Bates again stays fairly neutral and of course no mention of who these "people" are. The piece continues to go on about how Scott's programs aren't doing anything and Bates deserves the credit.
Next up they're in neighborhoods in South Baltimore where crime has increased. They show all the stats and then interview a number of people who no surprise either place all the blame on the mayor, say the city needs a new mayor or both. Obviously no follow ups or it was cleverly edited to make sure nothing negative is said about Dixon.
Then they move on to the people who are endorsing Dixon. First Ivan Bates, then the Sheriff of Baltimore and finally on to how Thiru dropped out to endorse Sheila. Just like part owner of the Sun Armstrong Williams' opinion piece about the selflessness of Thiru, no mention of what he's getting out of the endorsement or how he was going to lose his 5th election. Lastly they move on to how the Governor hasn't endorsed anyone yet. Then they have their "political analyst" to discuss how bad this is for Scott.
Then they go to commercial, but before that they show a foxbaltimore.com poll for "Who do you trust more to address crime in the city"? 97% said Dixon and 3% said Scott. Safe to assume that the vast majority of people voting in that poll do no live and vote in the city.
Last thing I saw was a piece going on about how Safe Streets is crooked and a waste of money. It was only part 1, you'll have to tune in at 10pm for part 2.
Sinclair is obviously a joke at this point, but this was over the top. I do have two questions. What is Sinclair, who despise everything and everyone in the city, getting from Dixon to be her personal campaign television station? And if Dixon wins, will the station suddenly end its "City in Crisis" favorite tagline?

What should we make of this startling bombshell that a TV station/network/media outlet has taken a side in an election? If this kind of partisanship isn't stopped at the local level it could spread nationally to Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, the NYT, the WAPO, the NY Post, the LA Times and who knows where else. We need a Congressional committee and/or a special prosecutor to look into this.

But I can't say I've ever seen a local news program that's only on a couple hours a day so actively campaigning for a candidate.

Low voter turnout, delayed openings of some polling locations, machine malfunctions. Eh. The more things change the more they stay the same.
And, by the way, the election officials (judges, etc.) are paid very well. They should have been there on time. My sister is an election judge in Baltimore City. She has been doing this for as long as I can remember.

Mayor Scott deserves another term. He's had his bumps but overall the city is heading in the right direction. Just still have a lot of work to do to. I wish him and the city the best.

Just curious, why was Fox45 in Shiela's corner?
I mean I know the right loves themselves corrupt politicians, but one would think Dixon would be a bridge too far.

Seems like an uncharacteristically stereotype statement to me. My son in law is 40 and does not look like he just missed the prom. Scott, especially when wearing very casual clothes, looks about 19. I mean, good for him. He will likely look 40 when he is 60. I'll try not to hate him for that.

I'm going to be 45 in two weeks and like to think I still look pretty good for my age. As long as I keep up with my haircuts to keep all the dang gray hair off the sides of my head. I tell my wife I look like Paulie Walnuts.
Meanwhile, my European and African-American friends all look 10 years younger than they are. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's a good question, but she's been all over WBAL for years too. So the right has definitely embraced her. I think they see Brandon as too progressive and a lot of them think he doesn't like white people. LOL. I know one thing... on Nextdoor the people from Roland Park knew all the talking points verbatim.

Bunch of babies here, I'll turn 77 in a couple weeks. I think I look 77 but others tell me closer to 67.
