It really is. If you catch a snakehead fish in MD or VA you are required to kill it.

Yes that is a lot. And according to what I have read they are good eating....having never caught one.
Somebody had a nice fish fry I am sure.

Local chefs were putting them on the menu a few years ago. I think Bryan Voltaggio had one on the menu at one of his restaurants too.

The only worrisome thing is, since they're a predatory fish species, they have higher levels of mercury from ingesting other fish with mercury. So I wouldn't make it a part of your regular diet. Otherwise, I'll take some blackened snakehead, please!

A little boney but good if prepared right. I have never had any but from accounts of people that do it is a very firm fish that is excellent for deep frying and has a firm almost sweet taste. I'd like to catch one to try it for dinner but then that would mean that the 'local fishing hole' was in deep doo doo.
