The Masters Honorary Starter Tradition. Highlights start at the 4:40 mark. Seems there are a lot of golfers here. Having such a section probably is a good idea. All you have to do is ask Sprightly and likely she will add it. She was fine with adding a hunting and fishing sections when I asked.

Where to add? Sports (some would debate that)? Outdoors (clearly it takes place outdoors). Just let me know. Yeah, you definitely should not add it to sports.

Since you have to have one when you watch golf, how about putting it in "Adult Beverages"?

Is there a section for "boring things to watch"?

I don't think we will have enough interest to give it owns special spot but that's just my opinion. I've only recently started watching golf recently but not enough to visit a board about it.

Here is one of those 'I don't get it' things for me.
The few times that I have watched golf..... if someone in the crowd sneezed, or a bird chirped or a plane flies over the golfer more often not go bat **** crazy. Stares at the crowd etc.
Then with c19.... the same players are bytching an moaning because of a lack of crowds. At least that is what I have heard on some sports channels doing after match interviews.
Huh?

Funny though. When Tiger was playing, golf was almost "must watch" sport. There was, I think, this expectation that the next shot was going to be the best ever - until he was up again.
I actually miss that level of art.

A friend makes fun of me for watching soccer because it's boring. Yet he regularly watches golf...

My FIL was a golfer. He was a Merchant Marine and later a Captain for Exxon. Whenever he was home from sea, he would be on the golf course. When he retired, he joined the senior pro tour. He would get so mad at me when I would say golf was boring.

Not true..... you forgot shuffle board. 😁 And rethinking I had a buddy long ago..... he could pitch horseshoes with a cigarette in his mouth and a drink in his left hand and the shoe in the other. I gottah a picture of that someplace. BTW he was an excellent pitcher.

So it's "Watching Paint Dry" or, because I spent several years with an avid golfer, "The Things We Do for Love"? How about a "Lame Sports" bored (pun intended) where people can go talk about golf, soccer, the Olympics, ice dancing, swimming, etc.?

It appears that no one watched the vid as it was also a celebration of the first Black American to play in the Masters... Mr Lee Elder. Very touching tribute starts at the 4:40 mark and the drive from an 85 year old South African was impressive.

Where to add? Sports (some would debate that)? Outdoors (clearly it takes place outdoors). Just let me know. How about a forum named 'Odd Shaped Balls'? Golf balls are odd shaped. And I could regale you all on my Lawn Bowls adventures. Then you guys have those huge round bowls with holes in them, they're quite odd.

Golf is lots of fun to play. Not as fun to watch.
I bagged on soccer for years but have gotten into the WC the last few times it’s been played. It’s actually very exciting. Hope they’ll be able to play it next year.

Hope they’ll be able to play it next year. My sons and grandsons played both indoor and outdoor soccer so I've sat through a lot of games. I prefer watching soccer to watching most other sports.

Mr Elder. Elder also has a close connection to Player, a three-time Masters champion from South Africa. In 1971, Player invited Elder to play in the South African PGA Championship in Johannesburg. Elder agreed to go, but only if the South African government promised he wouldn't be subjected to apartheid. "It's quite sad to think that in those days, with the segregation policy that South Africa had, that I had to go to my president and get permission for Lee Elder to come and play in our PGA," Player said. Elder won the 1971 Nigerian Open while visiting Africa. "You can imagine at that time in history how encouraging it was for a young Black boy to see this champion playing, and then of course with Tiger Woods coming on, it was just absolutely fantastic for the people of any color around the world," Player said. Elder qualified for the Masters by winning the 1974 Pensacola Open for his first PGA Tour victory. Because of death threats, the trophy ceremony took place inside the clubhouse, instead of on the 18th green. His Masters invitation came 41 years after the first tournament was played in 1934, the same year he was born. www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/31215109/lee-elder-joins-jack-nicklaus-gary-player-open-masters

Justin Rose had a historic round yesterday. Shot a 65. He bogeyed the first hole and just did it again this morning.

Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus...they’re all getting up in years. We always have golf on on weekends. It’s relaxing. Interesting to watch 24yr old rookie Will Zalatoris. We switch to NASCAR during commercials.

I found my bag and clubs the other day (while searching for another item). I used to enjoy going out once in a while but not during busy times and NOT with uber-competitive players with no patience. My girl friend at the time asked me to make her a set of clubs... which I did. We played together off and on for a year then... we were married 26 years ago. Since that day they've been moved from 2 garages to todays back yard shed and she decided to place them in our community yard sale May 1. Yes... I'd do it again.

I played yesterday for the first time this year. Shot well. Turned out to be a great day weather wise, too.
