Way back in college (70's) I remember reading a short story that I no longer remember the name of and haven't been able to find. The gist of the story was how God created man, and that over time, man destroyed their God. Further along, man creates robots with artificial intelligence, along with the ability to create their own offspring. Essentially man became the God of these creations. Eventually, the creation destroys their God - man in this case...
Dammit, now I wish I could remember the name of this little vignette, but this story reminded me of it. I believe it was in a Bio-ethics class, where we discussed things such as science rapidly progressing beyond our ability to take into account and reflect upon the ethical considerations (at the time, in vitro was becoming a thing, artificial transplants of organs such as hearts and valves, and the ability to grow tissue in general outside the human body.)
