What is a commonly used expression that you think is EXTREMELY annoying? I know we've done this before but there are so many new ones!! 98 Rock has this on their FB page right now and some of the responses are hysterical. What say you? I have a few : I did a thing Irregardless (this is my all time most annoying) Cray cray

My biggest pet peeve in this area isn't a phrase, it's the overuse of the word "like." Like, you know, when you, like, insert the word, like, almost all the time.

fam, when you mean "family". Are you really in such a hurry that you can't spare two syllables? There are others of similar nature. With all due respect - that could be "none", couldn't it?

Ugghhh.... my youngest does this. He'll send a group text starting with Hey Fam!!! It's tough typing those 3 additional letters!

“I love her/him to death but…” When you use the word BUT, the words that follow are the words that are remembered. ~ Dr. Phil McGraw Forget what I said, this is what I actually me.

"To be honest... " which seems to imply that you weren't being honest otherwise.

So, to be honest, I like, literally, conversate with strangers, but on accident, I forget that some of them are people I love to death.

With all due respect, you just upset a lot of people on accident... it's kinda of cray cray. Are these people that you love to death considered fam? Irregardless, they are upset!!

I was listening to WYPR's Science Friday last week. And they had a truly gifted young scientist on talking about her research. What I mean by smart she had like (😉😁) two PhDs in BioChemistry and Physics. And she was like (😉😁) all of 24. Here she is, explaining her research and after 3 or 4 research words came LIKE..... 4 more.... LIKE. This went on for the entire segment. Drove me crazy. I think LIKE is recent generations replacement for 'ahhh'. To me both are sort of a placeholder for the speaker so they don't give someone else to inject themselves into the conversation .... breaking the speakers line of thought. IOWs a way 'not to yield the floor' so to speak.

I would suggest (ooops there is another one) that a lot of the abbreviations such as fam are carryovers from early texting where the character count allowed was a lot lower. At that time it was practicality now it has morphed into shorthand with the advent of larger texting windows and word suggestions.

Going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing whomever you say that too will be extremely annoyed, and not at the "to be honest" expression. I hope you identified all available escape exits before making such a remark.

My wife her sisters always keep telling me they wish they had big ones, lol. Amazing how things change with times. I still remember negative terms like 'secretary spread'. And Playtex advertising girdles (remember girdles?) guranteed to flatten ones butt. Hell. My Mom all 5'2'' 98 pounds of her went through a period when she was doing excercises to flatten her butt. Which was amusing since ..... she was so tiny she could easily slip through the toilet seat. NOT KIDDING.
