Let's just assume that within the next few months we will get our lives back. What are you looking forward to doing that you haven't been able to? It doesn't have to be a big thing. For me, it's traveling again. But, I also look forward to going back to the live theater. I was thinking the other night that it's been over two years since I have done something that I've loved - seeing live performances - local.

I've heard it said that real wealth isn't the number of dollars you have, but rather the ability to live without worry about basic money needs. I think that is what I am looking forward to, i.e., not so much traveling in the grand sense, but to be free from the omnipresent threat that some covid infection is sitting round the corner.

Definitely traveling without restrictions.
And life in general without having to hear about infections, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccine rates everyday.

Being able to finally take a vacation and enjoy our retirements like it was supposed to be.
Getting to go to NJ and visit family without worrying and having to 'prepare' as much..... like where to stay.... where could we eat.
And it would be nice to FINALLY be able to plan to go to a restaurant..... or even more importantly NOT having to. Hey honey how about we go to that Asian (or whatever) place at the drop of a hat.
I miss that.

I’d like to be able to fly again, but I’m not getting on a plane for a while; it’s too crazy right now.

But like your not flying that is how we feel about going to restaurants. 🤷♂️

I'm looking forward to live in person church.
And also a long overdue trip, most likely overseas.

I really miss going to concerts and football games. Even if they lift all of the restrictions I'm not sure when I will be comfortable enough to do either. I feel like I will always shy away from big crowds now. Restrictions being lifted doesn't mean COVID is gone so we will have to see.
I've done some traveling during COVID so I don't feel like I've missed out on that.

I've decided to go back to my gym. It's enjoyed my membership $$'s long enough. lol The last time I visited I was concerned about people not wearing a mask when they leave a piece of equipment and, of course, without wiping it down is always a pet peeve of mine.

Not wiping down machines at the gym has always been a peeve of mine even before the pandemic. I wipe the machines down before and after I use them because of this.

Annoying, but not dangerous, are the selfie princes and princesses. I used to go around them - messing up my circuit. The last few times I went, I politely say, "My turn." My guy friend gets so nervous when I do that. lol

Just started going back to the gym as well. It's a little uncomfortable being next to someone on a machine but I am sure they feel the same way about me.
I don't think it's a coincidence that within two weeks of being back at the gym I got a nasty cold and sinus infection.
Oh well, "getting back to normal" comes with plusses and minuses I guess.

Good question. One I have talked about elsewhere. The one word answer is no at the moment. Neither of us will feel comfortable till such time that the covid counts go down to something close to the flu. Now what that exact number is, I really don't know at this point. Or it may be that omicron finally peters out and we don't have another variant pop up in a month or so. That maybe a handful of people here and there get sick and that's it. Maybe then. Maybe it will be when some of our close friends (who also have been following the rules) decide to go out maskless etc. and remain healthy.

We've started going out infrequently, only with folks we know have been boosted, and only during periods of slow business. We will, for instance, do late lunches, rather than dinners. We will go to a winery in middle of the afternoon, during the week, rather than on the weekend when they are more crowded. TBH, I may well be the least social on this forum (I really don't like people), but this is getting a little too much even for me.

I've already been doing everything I normally do pre-pandemic. Went to the East Outdoor Show last weekend, it was packed, few people wearing masks. Went to a brewery Saturday, full of people, no masks. Life seemed pretty normal.

There are a couple of people here that probably did (note past tense) more 'getting outs' or trips in one month than I ever had in an entire year. I had hoped that would change when I retired..... and it did for a while...made it a point to take 3 day trips or go to dinner once a week. Then my heart surgery to replace some valves.....followed by covid. And pooof.
