I've fried my turkeys the last few years and they turn out great.
This year we may roast it in the oven, which we've also done before, but you have to stay on top of it to keep it from drying out.

I think roasting it is part of the Thanksgiving tradition. It gets the family and guests into the kitchen, which gets loud and crowded. Just kind of fun. Especially with a good sauvignon blanc chilling...

We're cooking the food and then taking it to my grandmother's retirement home. We've been doing this for about 10 years now. I love hanging out with my grandparents on the holidays but the bingo-hall style room we gather in is not festive and it's kinda hard to keep stuff warm. We're only about 35 mins away, though. My grandfather passed over the summer and my grandmother is moving to the eastern shore to be closer to my parents so this may be the last holiday we do this.
We are having the family back to our house later that evening, though. So that is when the wine will be flowing. I love Sauv Blanc but I also enjoy a Pinot Noir or a Beaujolais Nouveau with Thanksgiving dinner too.

They are a little difficult getting in the car but boy are they worth it. Nothing spells Thanksgiving like Pelican. Attachments:

Cooked the bird at home and then took it to my grandmother's place so it sat covered in foil for almost 2 hours. Started carving it and was worried it would be dry but it turned out OK.

Nope. Wife said no way. 🤷♂️ I don't blame her! Seems risky!! Well risky for Thanksgiving. But I may try it on a large roaster or if we want turkey early next year.
