He will miss the Pro Bowl games (that is a skills contest now). I question whether it is advisable for a man who cannot recover from a concussion more quickly than this to even play football. It seems likely he will become one of the unfortunate former players who develops CTE later in life. Concussion is a risk factor. As a closed head brain trauma it is also a risk factor for Alzheimer Disease and its various awful siblings. www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35539313/tua-tagovailoa-protocol-miss-pro-bowl-games-source-says

If I’m Tua I’m considering walking away from football while I still can. Three horrible concussions in one season won’t end well for him.

It's really amazing when you look at Tua , a kid QB in his beginning NFL career and should retire before he's mentally crippled. Then you look at 46 yro Brady who was still playing and escaped serious injury all these years.

Playing behind great offensive lines and having the ability to give up yourself to avoid big hits go a long way to staying healthy. But even Brady had a major injury once during his career. If he keeps playing chances are he'll have another.

It is unusual for anyone to suffer from a concussion for this long, yes. If you get concussions close together you can get what is called second impact syndrome, which is much more serious even than a concussion. Closed head trauma (like concussions) is a statistical risk factor for dementia later in life, and probably for CTE as well.

Tua seriously needs to consider retirement.
