Round 1: Zay Flowers WR Boston College
Looks like the Ravens are going all in on the offense and Lamar. Flowers was Kiper's #1 WR overall. He's a smaller guy, kinda like Hollywood Brown but great hands and very physical. Drawing a lot of Steve Smith comparisons. Explosive speed and gets a lot of YAC.
Thought they'd go for Joey Porter Jr to address CB, but there are some CB's that didn't get picked in the first round. Problem is the Ravens don't have a second round pick. Might there be some wheeling and dealing here?

I was expecting a trade back, but was happy to see a pick since I stayed up. Hopefully Flowers can stay healthy with the rest of the WRs.

Hopefully Flowers can stay healthy I wasn't aware he had an injury history? Everything I've seen says he's pretty durable. Very physical player.

I'm liking the potential on offense. I like we have a new OC. Hopefully it gels and we get back to that 2019 style offense.
Definitely need some depth in the secondary. Hope they trade up to get someone in round 2.

IMO, Ravens needs going forward:
CB DE OL (need to replenish depth).
I don't think they need any more playmakers on offense, good lord. They are stacked at every position, miles deep. Maybe with Saunders gone they can stay healthy for once.

I'm glad we went the WR route. Most teams we played against compensated to the middle defending our TE's in 3rd and long situations. Having a WR that can break free of defenders in long routes helps soften defense in the flats for our TE as well as makes us viable long passing threats. Add to that a healthy running attack and the offense has multiple weapons to give opposing defense fits. All of course if our O line is solid on passing downs - so maybe the next pick if not a CB ought to be a good O lineman.

And pretty much every first round WR we've ever drafted. Perriman, Brown, Bateman...each have had problems staying healthy.

Taylor just couldn't catch the easy throws. He caught the tough ones but dropped the easy ones. I don't remember why Clayton wasn't as successful as he should have been.

I remember Clayton having a critical drop in a game against the Patriots at the end.

Somebody who needs a QB is going to get good value getting Will Levis in the second round.
There are some good CB's left (Branch, Porter). Hoping the Ravens can somehow make a deal, but I'm not sure they really have anything to trade that makes sense.

While I love the idea of Joey Sr having to root for the Ravens, I read an article that says Tomlin doesn't want Porter and that they think he is more of a later round pick. I'd assume that organization likely has a pretty good idea what he is and what he isn't.

That's interesting that Tomlin doesn't want him.

That's interesting that Tomlin doesn't want him. On the other hand so much BS is spouted regarding the draft it could be completely wrong.

Sounding like Queen may be off the board soon. Pun intended.

High grades for the Ravens, seems like that's just a given each year. They will need to sign a veteran CB though, as that position wasn't addressed for the immediate future, though they do have a couple of young recent draft picks that they apparently really like to step in.

They will have to up their game from what we saw last year. And they very well could. 🤞 But doesn't it seem like ..... for the last few years..... one of two things happens with the Ravens. - 85% of the team is rock solid. But the 15% that isn't is the achielles heel that evaporates at crunch time. Never the same positions .... almost like a planned rotation. One year it is the offensive line, they fix that, then it is the defensive line, they fix that, then it's the linebackers, they fix that, it was now the CBs. The kicker is that 9 times out of 10, the year before failure, they were all-pro caliber. - The team is 100% rock solid and appear to be ready to go to the superbowl and key player(s) and even the more than adequate backups get injured.

Sounding like Queen may be off the board soon. Pun intended. Yep. Declined his option. He isn't a bad player, but he did not pan out as a game changer the way one expects of a first round pick. And his fifth year would be expensive. If no one else will pay him, he can certainly re-sign here but at a price more in line with his skills. Otherwise, next man up!

I am guessing that is the Ravens play contractually. Yes, he is more than adequate linebacker, and the addition of Smith elevated his play. But, his $$$ expectations exceed his ability. Whether he likes it or not. LBer is not QB. Lamar played the negotiation process and won. He will not be so lucky or fortunate. And don't forget there are others waiting in the wings already under contract before the draft.

Zay Flowers' name appeared on someone's list of "probable busts". It suggested that he might not be able to shine in a crowded field of receivers. I don't think that would make him a bust; I generally reserve that designation for someone who fails to live up to his (anticipated) potential. That could be a guy whose skills are below what his draft position would suggest or who can't stay healthy. But, of course, there could be a legitimate reason a guy doesn't get targeted, such as a practice-demonstrated inability to catch the football.

Steelers just re-signed Trubisky to a 3 year deal, as well as re-signing Rudolf. That's somewhat interesting.
