www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/37685864/all-great-running-back-jim-brown-dies-87I always knew he did a lot of civil rights and community work, wasn't aware of all the legal troubles until now. He was one of my favorite athletes growing up. I was too young to see him play, but the clips, interviews, guest appearances, really made me think of him as a great man. He was definitely an "old school" kinda guy, and regardless of what anyone thinks about him as a person, he was hands down the greatest to play his position.

Retired at the peak of his talents, then made a second career for himself in Hollywood.
Rest in peace, sir. You have earned that.

The "Greatest" is always a dubious exercise at best, given the differences in eras. However whenever those discussions do take place, Jim Brown needs to be a part of those discussions. I was very young when he retired, but watching game film, the man was sturdy and punishing on the defense, and man oh man, he could take a solid hit and still extend a few more yards.
RIP

Never saw him play but his legend was too big for someone like me to not respect. Even as a Browns player.
They made a movie about his life a few years back...wasn't bad, but pretty TV-ish.
