If true I think he is entitled to a lot of that money they made off him.

If true I think he is entitled to a lot of that money they made off him. He's entitled to all of it. I wouldn't go that far. They were all part of the story, and they did a lot for him too. The whole thing is strange though, it sounds like Oher is saying they made money off the movie, and they are saying they did not. Shouldn't be hard to prove either way. He is certainly entitled to a share if they did. I do remember him not caring much for the movie when it came out, saying it portrayed him in an inaccurate light. I read the book before I saw the movie, I think, and didn't disagree with that when the movie came out.

"We divided it five ways," the Tuohys wrote in their 2010 book, "In a Heartbeat: Sharing the Power of Cheerful Giving."
Oher's court petition says he never received any money from the movie, even though he long suspected that others were profiting, according to his attorney, J. Gerard Stranch IV.
I read through the article. smh.
I can't believe that people could be that callous. First to not adopt the kid. But rather 'take him in' with the full intent of profiting from his abilities. I am embarrassed as a white man.
Hope they get every penny taken from them. Disgusting.

FYI - they couldn't legally adopt him - he was over 18 at the time. It does sound like they wanted to make sure they got profit if he made it big. Oher was aware he wasn't actually adopted, though he makes it sound like he just found out. He wrote in 2011 that he knew he wasn't adopted. It's very crappy if true that they didn't give him a share - but this is also a guy that made close to 40 million in the NFL. The whole thing reeks of greed all around, the more I see and hear about it. Embarrassed as a white man? Good lord Guido.

Personally, I feel not a scintilla of guilt or embarrassment regarding John Wayne Gacy, who was also white and a man and presumably a whole lot worse than Sean Tuohy.

I am not going to waste time looking up a quote/link so you are going to have to trust my memory.
According to the gray matter he was brought into the home prior to being 18. And 'they' presented the paperwork he signed as adoption papers. In actuallity they was a conservativeship, that included (supposedly) adoption papers being processed.
I did some research from a valid source: Age Requirements for the Person BEING Adopted.
1.) Domestic Adoptions and Foster Adoptees
According to statistics, it is estimated that about 135,000 children are adopted in the United States each year. At what age is a child legally available to be adopted in the United States? In general, a child must be between the ages of birth to 18 years and be legally free to be adopted. (A child is legally free for adoption when either birth or current legal parents have had their parental rights terminated or have consented to the child’s adoption).
Another aspect of adoption that is lesser known is adult adoption. This may occur when a child ages out of the foster system at age 18 without being officially adopted into a family, yet they maintain a close relationship with their foster family. Now, that child turned adult can be adopted to give him a permanency of a family, as well as make him eligible for any inheritance that may be given to him. Another instance of adult adoption could be the reunification of an adoptee with her birth family and her desire to share her family’s name. While there is really no age limit on adult adoptions, these situations typically occur when the person is between the ages of 18-21. adoption.org/age-limit-adoption#:~:text=1.),-Domestic%20Adoptions%20and&text=In%20general%2C%20a%20child%20must,consented%20to%20the%20child%27s%20adoption). And yeah, embarrassed. What is wrong with that? Would it be better to say that I would love to give them the bytch slap they deserve.

The less we all assign guilt or behavioral stereotypes simply due to ethnicity, the sooner we can get past ethnicity as a dividing characteristic. So unless you were a legal advisor to the Touhy's, I fail to see why you should be embarrassed. Should a Hindu person be embarrassed if some other Hindu robs a bank?

You can be embarrassed as a human being, if... IF the Tuohys did what Oher claims. That remains unclear. Which is why this matter must be examined in a court of law. I liked Oher's story and I liked him when he was here, but... I don't think he's very bright. Which makes me wonder if some sharpster is running a shakedown *through him*. I don't have any proof of that, either - I write it to suggest that there remain unexplored possibilities.
