Hunter Killer (2018) www.imdb.com/title/tt1846589/Can’t wait to see it. I love submarine movies. ol’ “lou scannon” and I shared a fondness for these movies, but strangely, he just up and disappeared from the board...once he was outed. Those blowboaters are an odd bunch.

Looks pretty good but some of these flicks are a little over the top, we'll see. My War folder of movies on one of my drives has Air, Land & Sea folders to separate all the films. Think I have every Sub movie from WWII on and a bunch of books too. Listening to one Audiobook now about Dick O'Kane and the USS Tang in WWII.

It may be over the top, but it’s a theatrical release, made to bring in the money. Like my son always says “Just enjoy the ride.” 😉

Remember the olden days "Navy Log" was a pretty big deal on TV? Das Boot and The Enemy Below top my pig boat movie list.

Looks pretty dumb, actually. Poor Gary Oldman. Went from Best Actor to this. And the plot, rescuing the Russian President, is downright ironic considering modern times. It's also been banned in Russia. Don't let me deter you from enjoying it, though.

It did not do well on Rotten Tomatoes, if you follow that sort of thing. My mother and sister saw it and absolutely loved it. I have always admired Gary Oldman since "Sid and Nancy."
My mom and I don't tend to agree on movies. Let us know what you think PF!

It's pretty amazing we didn't lose more Gato's and Balao's than we did..., 300 feet, at least the Tench had a 400 feet test depth. The Germans even with old type Vll's were pretty amazing pieces of machinery. Some really did go to 800' in desperation.... and survived! Even old Surface Skimmer sailors and Airedales find sub service pretty special in their own right. 200 men go out, 100 couples return.

I have War-Land & War-Air folders too. I have Hundreds of flicks on 3 1Tb drives! The Audiobook I'm listening to now "The War Below" says Dick O'Kane test dived the Tang down to 500+ feet and it was OK. The Tang was lost when their last Electric torpedo fired made a circular run. O'Kane and a handful survived and spent the last year of WWII in a Jap prison camp. I toured the Tench downtown a long time ago. I couldn't stand being shut in like that for months. I give Props to the servicemen who do it today.

Cramped, farts, smoke and sweat, maybe 2 heads for the entire crew and no shower water.... small wonder they were called pig boats.
