Each home game, the Ravens invite a former player to be a "legend of the game" and have them walk out of the tunnel with a Ravens shield before the team comes out.
Ray Rice is infamous for knocking out his wife on video in an Atlantic City hotel ten years ago. He's been out of football ever since and has devoted much of his time to charitable causes involving domestic violence and other issues. Primarily in Baltimore City.
This has caused quite the debate online.
I'm torn.
For one I don't think it's worth the PR hit. I understand Ray Rice has worked hard to become a better person and while that certainly deserves some level of respect and acknowledgement, I don't know that it needs to be done so publicly. Especially during a crucial stretch of the season.
On the other hand, I believe people can change and if there are people deserving of forgiveness based on their actions since their transgression, Ray Rice is at the top of that list.
What do you think?

Having met Rice on multiple occasions and knowing how much time he has dedicated to charity and community service even after leaving the NFL, I don't think his worst moment, caught on video, defines who he is as a person. He's an overall good person who did something bad and has been held accountable for his action.
As far as we know, Rice hasn't had any other violent incidents with his wife or anyone else, so I'm not bothered by him publicly associating with the Ravens.
As a society, I think it's important that we give people time and space to redeem themselves. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. It's how we recover from our mistakes that defines character. Also, not repeating the same mistake over an over.

He has, so far as we know, stayed out of trouble. I am prepared to accept that he has corrected whatever aberration led to that unconscionable behavior.
