Currently at least one dead and several other injured. I sympathize for these innocent victims and hope no more will be lost to this tragedy, which by the day seems to become more and more commonplace no matter the reason or rationale in the sick minds of those who do these god-awful things.

No idea what the structure of the school system is in Iowa, but the student killed was in 6th grade (11-12 years old) and the shooter, also a student at the school was 17 (11th or 12th grade)... typically.

I read somewhere the 6th grader was only at the high school because that's where the school district does their breakfast program. Apparently this was very early before the school day really started.

Where are the parents? Why aren’t they better securing their firearms? Gun safety in this country is in the toilet. Where is the NRA? They used to preach gun safety and responsibility. Now they’re a fearmongerimg doomsday cult.

It is being said that the shooter and his sister had been bullied over their entire time in school. No excuse for what he did but wouldn't it be awesome if we taught our kids to not bully others?
