Who ya got?
AFC
Browns vs Texans:
This is likely going to determine who the Ravens face in the divisional round. I think the Texans are vastly improved and being at home make this a close matchup. Stroud is clearly rookie of the year. Flacco has been playing his guts out since his return but does seem a bit reckless too. I could see him turning it over a few times. Will the moment be too big for Stroud? Tough pick, but in a game like this, I'm going with the team with the better defense, and that is the Browns.
Dolphins vs Chiefs:
The Dolphins got shellacked by the Ravens and then should have been by the Bills. Josh Allen kept the Dolphins in the game, then knocked them out of it. The Chiefs have big problems on offense and aren't particularly good at anything on that side of the ball. Their defense is outstanding though, and the weather is going to be a huge factor with record breaking low temps. The Dolphins seem like a fraud, and I cannot really see them pulling off an upset.
Steelers vs Bills:
Josh Allen is a superstar. He's also a bonehead. The Steelers are easily the worst team in the AFC playoffs, and really shouldn't be there at all, if not for Jacksonville shooting itself in the foot (or head). The Bills have issues stopping the run, so that could maybe give the Steelers some false hopes. Otherwise, Watt is out, and the team is 1-15 when he doesn't play. Bills win this big.
NFC
Rams vs Lions:
I feel for Lions fans. They had a great season, then lose their star TE because they tried to win a near meaningless game. Now they draw the dangerous, red hot Rams. I hate to say this, but the Rams are probably coming out with the dub.
Packers vs Cowboys:
The Cowboys are somewhat of an enigma. Packers are a pretty weak team in a weak conference. "Yeah, here we go!". Lopsided 'Boys win.
Eagles vs Bucs:
Eagles are in freefall, and the Bucs are like Jekyll and Hyde at times. I'm hopping on Rex Ryan's take - "The Eagles defense STINKS". Baker Mayfield and the Bucs get the win in a shootout.

Texans Chiefs Bills
Rams Cowboys Bucs
Note on the Lions. Although the refs screwed up, Lions should have kicked the XP and tried to win in OT against the Cowboys. Instead, they were stupidly over aggressive and gifted the Cowboys a win. Followed up by losing their TE trying to win back the #2 seed. Bad decisions.

The Chiefs/Dolphins game is only on Peacock as the NFL goes for another cash grab at the expense of fans. Hopefully all the money losing streaming services will go away in a few years instead of taking away games from fans.

Not shocking under Roger Greedell's reign. Hopefully people don't bite.

I am fortunate. I have aged out of the demographic the streaming service content is meant for, which means I have little incentive to purchase any of them. For the bulk of my life, I was the product networks sold to put in front of advertisers. Now that is still true except they want me to pay for the privilege. Hard pass.

I already have Peacock because it's the only way to watch Liverpool games, but the trend seems to be getting worse. One of the main reasons I have cable is for Orioles and Caps games, yet they're slowly pushing more games to ESPN+ and Apple+ which I refuse to sign up for.

I've been sharing log-in info with friends and family so I have pretty much all the apps and pay for half of them. Super annoying. Especially when they log you out and you have to bug someone for their log-in info again.

Gets local sports, local channels.

You really think they should play in KC tonight? -8F forecast. I know the NFL doesn't cancel games but good grief. I remember the Ice Bowl in 1967. Dallas at Green Bay for the NFL Championship. I believe the temp was about -15 or so degrees. The wind chill was somewhere in the -35 degree levels. There was no real field preparations (Jethro Pugh from the Cowboys said every tackle in the dirt felt like landing on concrete), nor were there appropriate warming overcoats, seat and bench heaters, and protection from the elements - some players wearing their short sleeve jerseys and no under-armor heat fabric undergarments. So while today's game will definitely be cold as can be, it's nothing compared to the Ice Bowl.

Browns collapsing. Joe looks as bad this game as he looked good when he won the post-season as a Raven.

Browns flat out got whipped in the trenches on both sides.
Dolphins are where they belong.
Cowboys, I have no words.
Happy as hell to be wrong about the Lions.

Browns/Texans - not surprised the Browns lost, but did not expect their defense to get smoked like that. And Flacco fell back to Earth so now Watson is probably their only option next year. CJ Stroud is real.
Dolphins/Chiefs - as expected, it was cold and the Dolphins played poorly.
Packers/Cowboys - did not see Dem Boys getting destroyed at home. But as usual, Cowboys believe their own hype and always fall flat when it matters most. And I love that the post-Rodgers Packers advance while he sits at home whining about conspiracy theories.
Rams/Lions - great to see the Lions win and they have a good chance to make it to the NFC championship. Rams might have lost, but they got a steal with Nacua in the 5th round.

Biggest takeaways from the weekend were Stroud and Love. They look great. Now I feel kinda silly not wanting Flacco to come to Baltimore.
Dallas continues their tradition of failing in the playoffs. They'll go get Belichick this offseason and the media will slobber all over that until September.

Stroud really, really concerns me. He is exactly the style of qb that does damage to the Ravens D.

Stroud really, really concerns me. He is exactly the style of qb that does damage to the Ravens D. Agreed. However we too have an explosive offense, and the key to victory is to mount an early lead and extend, limiting Stroud's options of the run game along with the play action fakes. Then our D can focus on rushing the QB with a bit more abandon. That's how we pummeled the 49ers and the Dolphins. It will be interesting to see how Stroud being hurried handles that kind of pressure. I was surprised at the lack of D from the Browns. I was likewise impressed with Stroud.

We will see whether Stroud matured since the Ravens beat him earlier (as I do not expect the Steelers to get past the Bills). Another unanswered question is: Is Jackson like Peyton Manning: excellent during the regular season but can't go the rest of the way (yes, I know Manning has two rings, but let's face it, he should have more, particularly given that one of them he co-owns with the Broncos defense).

Well, there go the Steelers. Not surprisingly. The Ravens will play the Texans on Saturday at 4:30. The Texans will not enjoy 21°, feels like 7° with 17mph wind. Actually, no one will enjoy that, but the Ravens are probably better equipped for it. All the sudden winter has arrived. And I want it to leave as quickly!

Well, there go the Steelers. Not surprisingly. Yeah, I mean, they didn't belong in the playoffs to begin with. Jacksonville gifted them that. Buffalo has some defensive issues though, which could come into play should they and the Ravens meet for the AFCC which would be more likely than not. Speculation is that Tomlin is done and will walk away. Which he precisely did at the podium when asked.

This isn't a snowstorm. This is 4-5 inches of snow. But hey I'll take it my office is closed today. I'm feeling confident. As long as they don't turn the ball over they win this game and it may not be close.

Doesn't look good. Maybe he needs the time off.
