This story is absolutely infuriating. This police department should be dismantled and rebuilt with real human beings and real police officers. Link There are so many stories of where the police royally effed up, this one is a true nightmare for the victims. Why is law enforcement so rarely held accountable?

Yeah we watched that. Unbelievable, especially the FBI.

Yeah we watched that. Unbelievable, especially the FBI. The FBI and Detective Mustard. Both should have lost their jobs! Icing on the cake, Mustard receives Office of the Year and the FBI Agent is dating the the girl that was supposed to have been kidnapped. Unreal. I'm so happy they are married and have a family, I wish they would have gone to court and not settled though.

I just finished watching this. I agree, insanely horrible job by law enforcement. They thought she was guilty from the start and worked to confirm their bias. Then they don't even remove the FBI agent who has a connection to the case.
I get why police may have been suspicious of her story, but while they were looking into her they should have also been tracking down her account to make sure it wasn't a hoax. And why the F would they put the guy's phone on airplane mode???
This is why I can't be a mindless supporter of police whenever an excessive incident story occurs. I generally support the police but they're not perfect and when they F up they should be held accountable. A shame that rarely ever happens.
