So, when we last discussed the subject, the doctor had told my son that he was 80% sure that the surgery had gotten all of the cancer. Well, remind me never to go to Vegas with his doctor because his setting of the odds weren't well executed. My son went back for his follow up appointment and his cancer has spread to his lymph nodes. Any thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. As well as any really good doctor recommendations.

Prayers for your son and the rest of your family. My son's mother-in-law goes to the Cancer Treatment Center in Philadelphia and has been doing very well under their care.

Being 28, he is still young and strong. Much can happen. Keep your eyes, and your hope up.
Speak to God with your heart. Let Him know your desire.
Please know there many people you have never met praying for him.
Praise, and thank God for all things.

Dear Father,
It seems I only come to You when the stakes are high. In my arrogance, I'd like to think I can take care of all things myself. It is in these times that I realize just how truly weak I am. You owe me nothing and have been generous beyond all understanding. I ask You now to hold Rael's son and his family in Your hand, to strengthen him for the fight ahead, to give that family love, and hope and peace and to guide the doctors in his treatment. And if it is Your will, to give this young man a long and fruitful life, in Your earthly service.
Amen

www.medstarhealth.org/doctor/dr-michael-auerbach-md/Dr Auerbach is an excellent hematologist. He treated my best friend until her death from basal cell...and tried everything possible to save her, including presenting her rare case to colleagues at conferences. His efforts gave her a couple more years. His bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired, and he and I butted heads a couple times, but he approaches the process as a scientist which is a good thing when dealing with chemo.

First day of chemo today. Last xray showed a small suspicious spot on his lung so they changed it from a stage 2 to a stage 3 diagnoses which just means it has spread to more than one area. It doesn't change the treatment at this point. He feels pretty good after his first treatment. Tired but not sick. I've never felt more powerless. It is what it is. Things always have seemed to work out for me. Just need that one more time and I'll be playing with the house's money.

Father,
The fight for Rael’s son has begun. We will use the best tools you have enabled us to develop to wage this battle, to keep this young man with his family, and to beat back this disease. We know also however, how limited is our knowledge without Your help.
The test ahead will tax both the body and the spirit and Rael’s son and his family will need Your strength to bolster them, to provide them hope and patience. We ask You to lend him and his family that strength all through the fight ahead. His doctor will need insight, wisdom and knowledge and we ask You to open the doctor’s eyes to the necessary understanding.
And if it is Your will, we ask You to make this young man hale and healthy, so that a life time of caring for his family, in Your earthly service can follow.
In Your Son’s name, we pray.
Amen

Novena To St. Peregrine
Glorious wonder-worker, St. Peregrine, you answered the divine call with a ready spirit, and forsook all the comforts of a life of ease and all the empty honors of the world to dedicate yourself to God in the Order of His holy Mother.
You labored manfully for the salvation of souls. In union with Jesus crucified, you endured painful sufferings with such patience as to deserve to be healed miraculously of an incurable cancer in your leg by a touch of His divine hand.
Obtain for me the grace to answer every call of God and to fulfill His will in all the events of life. Enkindle in my heart a consuming zeal for the salvation of all men.
Deliver from the infirmities that afflict the son of Rael.
Obtain for me also a perfect resignation to the sufferings it may please God to send me, so that, imitating our crucified Savior and His sorrowful Mother, I may merit eternal glory in heaven.
St. Peregrine, pray for the son of Rael and for all who invoke your aid.
Amen.

Hey Rael How's your son doing? He went through his first week of chemo. Starts the next round on Monday. Unfortunately the clinic is closed and the hospital won't do it outpatient so he is spending Christmas Eve through the 26th in the hospital. It kicked his butt until about Wednesday of the next week the first time so we have put off an extended family celebration of Christmas until Jan 2nd. He shaved his head and it is apparent that he has my father in law's hairline.
