We all have our favorites....
Where's the best place to get steamed crabs? Dine in or carry out.
I've had good luck this year at Seaside Carry Out (not Seaside Restaurant) in Glen Burnie and Seaside Market in Pasadena.

If my FIL's paying we go to Bill's Terrace. The best are at my buddy's place on Kent Island. He just throws his crab pots off his dock.

Years ago Twin Oaks had killer fried hards.

I do like Costas crabs, I used to go there a lot when a friend of mine was dating a guy that lived in that area. I've never been to Bills Terrace.

I did a lot of work for Bethlehem Steel when they were in business. The people I had to meet with always setup the meeting for 11:30. As soon as I arrived they would say "Jeet yet?" and off to Costas we would go. I'd get stuck with the tab but I would also get the contract.

For carry out, though, I think that every county has a favorite place. The old Kahlers in Baltimore County was a classic.

Costas is a fun local bar, they always make ya feel at home!

I've never had a deep fried hard crab. Is it even close to a fried soft crab?? My grandmother used to make fried hard crabs. No, not even close to a properly sauteed soft crab. Friend hard crabs are stuffed with a crab cake, dipped in a batter and deep fried. People loved them when my grandmom made them but I've never been a fan. Too much of a good thing for me. lol After I read your post, I googled it! I'd try it for sure if I were in the mood for a crab cake. I normally want a few crabs and a cup of MD crab soup when I'm craving crabs!

I found this recipe which seems to be identical to my grandmother's. I recalled her using pancake mix. Fried Stuffed Hard CrabsLooks good! Thanks for sharing.

Not sure, but I think that some people, on the Shore mostly, refer to a fried hard crab as a "bobbed" crab.

Matter of fact they don't much care about fried hards.... they LOVE their humongous arster sandwiches! I'd go to Evan's dock in Crisfield and buy frozen cleaned softs "bodies" for as low as 25 dollars for 48 of them.

I just had lunch at Harris Crab House over the Kent Narrows. They didn't have fried hard crabs but they have the best steamed clams and fried whole body clams around.
