Okay, for most of my adult life my eating habits were terrible, too much sugar, salt, fatty foods, I was overweight... until I had that wake up call a few weeks ago. Arms were aching, pain in my back between the shoulder blades, just not feeling "right". Son took me to the ER, within 24 hours I had 5 stents in my heart. It was an abrupt stop to the junk foods. Since then I've lost 11 pounds (a lot more to go) and looking forward to cardo rehab three times a week.
It's a little time consuming to read all the labels on food, but I really feel better and committed to eating healthy.
BTW, if you ever need that procedure done, it was amazing easy and not at all painful. Scary as hell, but not bad.

Good luck and continued success with the diet changes and exercise. I changed my diet about 15 years ago but the past few years I had become a couch potato. So even though I was eating the right foods, I wasn't moving around and I gained a ton of weight. Our daughter gave me a membership to the Y for Christmas. It's been great. My husband and I go 4 or 5 times a week and I've lost 7 lbs.

First off... I am happy that you 'caught it' in time.
My eating habits have changed somewhat as I age. Before I hit 60 or so I definitely had to have 3 meals a day ...no questions asked. Now breakfast...a mid noon snak ...and dinner.
In regard to 'junk food' I think that why one likes them boils down to two things; genetics and what was available to eat when you grow up..which I think sets a pattern as you approach adulthood and beyond. I was fortunate that my Mom's idea of junk food availability was a box of Social Teas cookies and maybe a bag of pretzels or potatoe chips...FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY ...and had to last a week.
So my snaks consisted of iceburg lettuce, carrots and celary w/ some salt..maybe. Later fresh made popcorn. Still pretty much what I eat today.
But guess what.... I inherited bad genes and had to have two valves replace in my heart....AND by accident they found a 'widow maker' blockage. Dr. said if it weren't for my floppy valves that I inherited I could have keeled over at any time.

I wish you well on your road to getting healthy!!

Saying prayers for you too (yeah, I’m a pray-er now 😉)

Glad everything worked out and you're OK and working to get healthy.
I'm about to do the Whole 30 diet which is no alcohol, carbs, dairy or sugar for a month. Oh and everything has to be organic. It's expensive but you're eating REAL FOOD again. Not the processed crap we all eat without giving it a second thought. I'm going to hit it hard at the gym and hoping to lose 20 lbs in a month to be at 180 and the lightest I've been since college.
Gonna do it between Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day since there's nothing going on during that time of year.

my pri-care doc had me take a stress test, the cardio doc said that if i didn't have a catherization that i was on my way to the morgue. Well, i did it, they didn't find ONE blockage. For some people it's a life saver, for others, it's just a money grab for rich doctors. even with my fantastic health care i had to shell our about $2100,00 for nothing.

He stopped doing that and ate healthy and like you promptly got a cold. Now he says he will eat healthy but he is not giving up his Jameson & ginger ale.

Tell him, it'll be okay to give up the ginger ale. Funny you should say that because that is exactly what our daughter told him. I prefer Chevas and ginger ale but there isn't much point to making it to after 5:00 PM if you don't get the reward.

This is the worst cold ever. Sneezing every 30 seconds. My co-workers must love me today.
I better be shedding some LBS for this crap.

Hmmmmm maybe having buzz on also give the germs a buzz so they just stagger around and do nothing ...just like their human hosts? 😄

Woke up felt fine...then my right nasal passage started giving me fits. If you ever had that 'errant nose hair' going backwards you know what I mean. I went from being totally blocked...to runny and back again….and sneezing all the time as you said. Finally took a Corcedon (sic) D and it sort of helped then I hit it with one of the over the counter steroids sprays for allergies. And hour later it stopped. I was exhausted from the sneezing LITERALLY. But other than that...I was fine. Done in 8 hours. Very weird

Just like to ask Hoot if she was feeding junk food to all those dudes captured in her basement all those years - I'm particularly worried about UpdaRack...

Just like to ask Hoot if she was feeding junk food to all those dudes captured in her basement all those years - I'm particularly worried about UpdaRack... If you consider bread and water junk food. They'd be eating good now if I had a basement. Had to get rid of all the junk food, red meat, alcohol, sugary soda... down 25 pounds now and still eating healthy. I've had enough turkey and chicken to grow feathers.
