I've been planning to leave the mountains of West Virginia to return to Baltimore for the baptism of my granddaughter Sunday.
A joyful time to gather the family and friends to celebrate a new, young life.
My friend of close to 50 years and his wife, are building thier retirement home not far from my home here in the mountains.
The home is built, and the final details are being finished for occupation.
His wife had knee surgery last week, replacing the joint. Surgery was successful, she attended therapy, and was released from the hospital.
My friend brings his wife home Tuesday, to recover.
Wednesday morning he finds her unresponsive.
911 is called immediately, but it was too late.
She passed in her sleep.
Her funeral is Saturday in Laurel.
Now I have an unexpected, painful funeral one day, a joyful baptism the next day.
Alpha and Omega, beginning and ending, all within a short time on this emotional weekend.
Please include my old friend in your prayers for healing and release of the pain he feels.
Please include my granddaughter in you prayers for her bright future and joyful welcome into the Christian community.
Please pray for me, in what will be a emotionally stressful weekend.
