I stayed up late and watched the launch online. Spectacular!
They missed the center booster, but did manage to catch one of the two cargo covers in a ship equipped with a big net.

I have seen many rocket launches. Dad worked for a contractor that was instrumental in early spaceflight, and played a pivotable role.
There have been two manned launches I have witnessed. The first was the Apollo/Soyuz launch. The noise was stunning.
Then there was a shuttle launch where my family was at Disneyworld on the 4th of July. The entire park cheered at the sight. Everyone cried. It was unexpectedly emotional.

Grew up in the late 50's, early 60's when it was all New and just Fantastic. Always wished I could see one Live in my lifetime but it just never happened.

It is a visceral experience you need to see! Emotions overwhelmed me both manned launched I was lucky to see. Just think. We are the last generation to remember skies without an artificial satellite.

Just not in the Stars so to speak. Did actually see a Satellite once! Way back when Ike was still the Prez they launched Echo. It was just a big reflective balloon that they could bounce radio waves off to broadcast all over. The paper said what time it would go over us one night. We went out on the back porch and there was this little Dot moving across the sky. Cool!

Dad excitedly brought me outside and showed me the big balloon flying across the starry sky. It was all so wonderful!
