A spin-off from "Suits". Instead of heading a high-profile law firm, Gina Torres plays a lawyer working for a partially compromised mayor as she also unofficially assumes the role of a private investigator. Fast-paced just like "Suits" while exploring character development and the gritty side of the legal profession.

I really liked her character on Suits so I was happy to see her playing the same character in a different role. So far it's pretty good!

I really liked her character on Suits so I was happy to see her playing the same character in a different role. I think one notable difference with her "Suits" character is that in Suits, she was fully confident in her ability to manage Pierson, Spector, & Litt. However in Pierson, not only is she subordinate to a compromised mayor, and repairing family ties; she is also clandestinely snooping around in a murder investigation. These three situations expose Pierson as being markedly less confident in her abilities since she doesn't have as much leverage or control as she had as CEO of a law firm. Gina Torres plays her character "Pierson" so well that her diminished confidence is on full display every time she flashes that "deer in the headlights" look when she is at a loss for words. However that Suits "savoir faire" prevents Pierson from winding up on the losing end of the situations she finds herself in.
