Had a very interesting sermon at the 8:00 Mass this morning. The Deacon spoke to the issue of humility and how the lack of it in our country today is causing many of our problems.
We see it here every day. Differing opinions that quickly escalate into personal attacks. The assumption that someone is evil, or stupid, simply because they have a viewpoint that disagrees with our own.
Of course, his teaching was that a complete surrender to Christ would resolve that issue for us. Unfortunately, it is difficult for people who believe in Christ to surrender that fully. For agnostics, or atheists, or people who believe differently it is even more difficult.
I think if we could just recognize that at the end of the day, we're all on this marble together, it might go along as well.

Well stated MOTR!
Humility is always good. I recall the Bible reference which states "He who exalts himself will be last, and he who humbles himself will be first."

Actually that should be: "For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." Mathew 23:12.
