I wasn't hungry before but now I am! Thanks Lou.... I am definitely a New England foodie for sure. From the looks of this list, I need to spend more time in the mid west! I brought in a half a crab cake from G&M for lunch today, thinking I may have to eat it now!!

Louisiana has the best cuisine culture, by far.
Trailed by the Mid-Atlantic.
You can keep your California and your New England cuisines. What they're famous for you can get elsewhere, and often better. That's not the case with Louisiana and Mid-Atlantic cuisine.

Not sure about that first part, but I've had great food in Louisiana. Some of the best meals I've ever had were in Coeur d'Alene/Ketchum. Believe it or not. I don't doubt it. There's good food everywhere. But some local cuisines are better than others.

I don't doubt it. There's good food everywhere. But some local cuisines are better than others. Yes but as with say, French food, which people seem to love, it's a little much for me. I don't care for sauces, cheese, butter, etc. But the breads - Everyone has their favorite style. Some of the best food I've ever eaten was at rando cafes/bistros in France. It was impossible not to get a great meal there. It's not all sauces, butter and cheese but I say being all of that on!!!
I love uniqueness of Louisiana food. Theres a lot of crossover in other regional cuisines but Louisiana is a place all its own. Boudin, crawfish etouffee...OMG my mouth is watering just thinking of it.
On a side note, I went to Annapolis for the weekend last weekend and had amazing food everywhere I went. I was really surprised how good it all was but it makes sense that it's the foodie capital of MD as well as the capital.

Of course it's not all they have but it's what they are known for! lol What I said about Idaho is only interesting because I am not a big meat eater (haven't had a steak in months) but of course, meat it was in Idaho. Best. Beef. Ever. Ever. lol I'm sure it was. I've heard good things about Basque cuisine in Idaho. I'll have to get out there someday.

I had some of the best raw oysters I ever eaten in Couer D'lene They were from Washington/ Vancouver. I had to attend a conference in Hanford and took my wife with me and afterwards we drove to Couer D'lene for a couple of days. The first hotel where I reserved a room wouldn't let us spend the night because my wife and I have different last names. Imagine that in this day and age. So we went to the resort and they had plenty of rooms. It worked out because we got to play golf there. They have one hole that the green is a floating island and the move it around every morning. You have to access by a rowboat.

I saw the scrapple but didn't see Maryland beaten biscuits or our Smith Island cake. Bummer. According to Wikipedia beaten biscuits are a southern thang.

They treat crabs and lobsters pretty much like the handle their politics. Boil everything to death with little care or seasoning and for so long that you don't really care what the end results is.
