I am getting a bumper crop of hot peppers.Scotch Bonnet, Ghost and Picante. Sounds good! I have a friend that grows a lot of jalapenos and ghost, she makes a ton of hot pepper jelly and gives it away as Christmas presents. I always look forward to my jar!!

I like to make Jalapeno ice cream. Take a gallon of vanilla ice cream and let it melt stir slices of Jalapenos in the ice cream (take the seeds out if you don't want it super spicy) then refreeze.

My better half travels to Lancaster County once or twice a month on business. While she's there, she stops by a couple of the Amish stores for the good deals. (BB's and Goode's, for instance.) Yesterday she returned with a dozen ears of sweet corn ($3.00) and a half pound of lovely tomatoes ( $2.50). BLT's and corn tonight!

I love the Amish Markets in Laurel and Annapolis, it's been years since I've been up to Lancaster County. They have some great produce, meats, cheeses, bakery, pretzels.... basically everything! I think I need to make a trip very soon....

Farmers I knew when I lived there say it's "ARGENT" not SQ, argent has a weeks shelf life and SQ only a day or two before it loses taste.

I haven't heard about Argent, tho, but in case y'all didn't already know, we take a bucket, put an inch or two of water in it, stick the stem end of the corn into the bucket (husks and all for dem city slickers ) at room temp and it'll stay reasonably fresh for a few days. The worst thing you can do is stick it in the fridge.

Went to a nice farm to table place in Tampa the other night called Boca .....
Ashville has a really active ftt scene as well....
When I get home from this road trip expect to have lots of red tomatoes....
Had a few dozen green ones starting to turn on a dozen varieties before I left....
Was overwhelmed with cukes, grape tomatoes and basil after the rains .....

On our way to Smith Mountain Lake we used to stop at an Amish market/restaurant called Laynes to load up for vacation. The Amish never disappoint. A hard-working group of people. Nowadays kids use words like old-school.

It was over 6 feet tall at one point. Then a thunderstorm came along and the twine that I used to tie it to a stake cut through the stalk and I lost about a foot off the top. I have a cherry tomato plant, a sun sugar I think, that grows tomatoes to be about marble sized and then they just drop off the plant.
