I figured I'd start the negative thread now. Hey, I've been REALLY wrong about Lamar so far. Just trying to keep the streak going...

Well, he could if his teammates didn't completely choke. I have few words right now. I never saw a team so completely out of sync as this one. Quicksand. I'm sure most know the speech. It all started with the ball bouncing off of Andrews's hands for an INT. Last straw was pass hitting Hurst in the chest for an easy TD that would have given them a chance, but he wasn't even looking for the ball.

Too much time off for the Starters

They basically turned the ball over 5 times if you count the failed 4th down tries. That’s a recipe for losing. 500 yards of offense, all by Lamar BTW and you get 12 points. The tipped pass for INT was the snowball that started the avalanche. Once we’re down 14-0 it was over. This offense is not made to play from behind and we haven’t been behind by that much in a long time. Just a depleting loss. I don’t even know what to think right now. Have to think they’re good next year and win the division but at some point you have to win a playoff game at home. Pathetic.
The Titans BTW are legit. They’re going to the Super Bowl. They’re just a hot team at the right time. In hockey you call it a “hot goalie”. That’s what they are.

For me watching last night as Yogi Berra said 'It was deja vu all over again.'
It was like watching the Ravens the last few years under Flacco. A constant effort to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. It was like they were LOOKING for ways to mess up. It was a pathetic and I mean PATHETIC display. The entire team and coaching staff should be hanging their heads in shame.
Seemed about the only one on the Ravens side of the field that got anything right was the towel boy as he always had two clean ones on hand. And boy after that stink up he needed a lot of them.
Did I use enough clichés? 😱😄
God last night sucked big time.

Anything happens in the playoffs. If you turn the ball over you’ll lose.

When you make mistakes, get out of sync, and get behind in a playoff game, you lose it. The Titans came out there like a team hungry for the Superbowl. The Ravens came like a team that read too much of their own press, and felt themselves anointed or deserving. Hopefully there are lessons learned. It now seems unlikely (with the Browns hire) that either coordinator will depart, so hopefully they can build on this year into next. Now begins the Baltimore sports desert, until training camp opens in July. The Orioles do not count as a professional sports team at this point in their rebuild. They will lose 100+ this year.

I guess I double negative jinxed them. I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure it is all my fault.
The one weakness this offense has is getting the ball out to the wide outs. The problem is, with the type of offense we run I don't think free agent wide outs are going to be lining up to play for us.
Oh well. It ended badly but it was a fun ride. Much better than I had expected at the start of the season.

My impression is that the Ravens' defense could be tuned to stop the pass or the run, but not both. While they keyed on Henry, Tannehill passed just enough to burn them early. Marlon looked amazed at that 45 yard pass for a touchdown and also like a rookie. Once they were behind by 14, the game was essentially over. I know teams have come from farther behind (famously, the Patriots v. Falcons), but I'll bet few teams who go behind by two touchdowns recover.
They denied Lamar running lanes up the middle, mostly forcing him outside where they could limit his gains. They also largely shut down his preferred receiver, Andrews (who wasn't at peak ability due to injury). Ingram was also less effective due to his calf strain. In a season with only a few serious injuries (they lost Skura and Jefferson and had a few guys out for a few weeks - minor compared to some seasons, and some other teams this season), they had two key ones at the worst time. Converting on fourth and very short, at which they had succeeded so often in regular season play, was thwarted by a defense that was prepared for it and packed with line of big men. Add in a little rust from too much time off (maybe?), and what you have a lot of things that cost them the game, but that could have been overcome if only there hadn't been so many of them.
I credit to Tennessee for figuring out how to beat them. Now Roman and Martindale have to figure out how to prevent copycats from using the same techniques in the future.

What beat the Ravens was themselves. 6 dropped passes. Folks, this simply was the difference.
There were two drops that would have been touchdowns. First was to Seth Roberts, on a perfectly thrown ball and he had nobody behind him for an easy long TD. Second was the inexplicable one by Haden Hurst that hit him squarely in the chest at the goal line for an easy TD. Had they gotten that one at 5:35, and gotten a two point conversion, it's a one score game with plenty of time to get a stop and the ball back with more than enough time to get a tying score. The tone was set with Andrews popping a ball up that he has caught nearly every single time this year. To me, Jackson was the only guy on offense that didn't have jitters, and feel the pressure. He was ballin', only to have the receivers shyte the bed.
The good news is that it's a really young team(and that was a part of the problem too), and that they should be able to improve in the offseason. They are finally free of Flacco's horrendous contract, and can afford to keep some guys, and get some help (or draft) for a legit pass rush.
In a way I understand how the Patriots fans must have felt in 2007. An all-time great team that somehow just didn't get it done, and it's such an empty, hollow feeling. The 2011 Packers are another one. Don't forget the 2011 Ravens, who were IMO the best Ravens team up till this year. We all know how that team responded. The Ravens will be just fine. They have an MVP QB, who's just turned 23...he's just getting started. Elway, Manning, many others started off losing the first few playoff games(took Manning five to win his first), and those guys one multiple titles. I suspect that the Ravens are going to get that from Lamar too.

I forget the ranking, but it dropped off a lot in 2012 when it was ranked 17th or 18th. The 2010-2011 teams were much better on that side of the ball.

2011 Ravens were 12th offensively, 3rd defensively.
2019 Ravens were 1st offensively, 3rd defensively.
I don’t know how anyone can consider another Ravens team more talented than the 2019 team.
Lamar makes that a reality.

Lamar makes that a reality. The 2019 team wasn't just the best Ravens team, it was one of the 10 all-time best teams. Sick to my stomach that they lost in such a self inflicted manner. Seemed like each time they had a chance to do something, a pass was dropped, or a 4th and 1 was stopped. It was a game that 9 times out of 10 they win.

It was Murphy's Law...anything that could have gone wrong, did. And that seems to happen in the playoffs a lot.

Flacco didn't get to the SB his first years either. I predict next season Lamar gets that ring. Third time is the charm. Bleedat!

I predict next season Lamar gets that ring. Third time is the charm. Bleedat! I think I read that it took 5 years for Peyton Manning to win a playoff game. Yup it did. Elway, Brees, a few other greats took a while to win too. People also need to remember that Lamar is very young as well. He was the youngest QB to ever start a playoff game last year. Also, Lamar wasn't the problem really - he played well enough to win the game. I didn't see any jitters or nervousness from him at all. Andrews, Hurst, Roberts, those guys had complete butterfingers. Had Andrews caught that throw as he normally does, and not tipped it up for an INT, I have no doubt the Ravens would have rolled in this game. That play completely set the tone. After that, Roberts dropping a pass that would have been a TD, Hurst doing the same, it seemed like every time the Ravens had opportunity to tie or get back into the game, they literally just kept dropping the ball. Lamar was getting the ball out there to make the plays, but the receivers just kept letting him and the team down. But, look - they return all 11 starters next year, and most of the defense. Yes it's hard to improve on one of the best offenses of all time, and a defense ranked 3rd, but there is room for improvement. Maybe not in the raw numbers, but they can surely improve more at the WR and DE positions, and they'll all have another year under their belts and some playoff experience. They'll have a tough schedule again next year, but I still expect them to win the division and probably still get a first round bye. IMO they and the Chiefs are the teams to beat over the next few years in the AFC.
