I had been making this recipe for many years. I've been looking in cookbooks and articles for year looking for something similar, so I could credit someone else to name it. I have not found it, but it must be out there.
This works best on the charcoal grill, but baking works just as well. I tried frying it, but I like it better grilled or baked.
Marinate whole chicken breasts in Italian dressing for a minimum of 6 hours. Before putting on the grill, or baking, cover in Old Bay to your taste. Cook off heat on the grill, and on a sheet in the oven 350° for about an hour. Serve.
I asked a friend's daughter how she liked it, and she said with a drooling smack, "This is chicken from Heaven!"

It works well with a fillet of salmon too!

Italian dressing does make for a good marinade. We use it on veggies like peppers and onions as well.

I assume you mean not the creamy sort of Italian dressing?
I might try this with Old Bay Hot Sauce if I get to it before I grow tired of overusing that.
