The buy and bury strategy is not unique to Facebook; most companies which become large enough use this tactic to eliminate competitors once they gain a little traction, putting the lie to the idea that we have a well-functioning capitalist economy. If the government is finally waking up to this, that's good for everyone except would-be monopolists, and since their activities are bad for the economy I feel little sympathy for them.
But is this coming from Trump's enmity for "Big Tech" which is probably not shared by Biden? Big Tech's ability to slice and dice its demographics with tremendous precision allowed Trump to lie to large groups inclined to believe him whilst escaping scrutiny from debunkers fueled his campaign. Trump ought to be grateful. But now that they've begun to call him out for lying, he's turned on them. If this is personal enmity, Trump's usual motivation, it may evaporate once Biden takes office.

The calls to break up Facebook and other big tech giants has been bi-partisan. I don’t believe the DOJ is doing this to appease Trump. Now it will be interesting to see how the Biden admin deals with the big tech companies given the close ties between Silicon Valley and Biden’s advisors...

I don't do Facebook, don't Tweet or Like anything. I used to run 3 real websites from back in the W95 days when it was all New & Fun starting with Claris Home Page then MS Front Page, Front Page 2000 and then Dreamweaver. Registered the Domains, paid for Hosting, Uploaded by FTP, all that stuff. Then in the mid-late 2000's, I Quit because it all became more Work than Fun. Back then a kid at work found out about my work and said "Let me show you My website!" and pulled up his My Space page. I told him "That's Not a Real Website, that's just a bunch of your Junk Pics and stuff!". So I don't do Any of that Stuff with my phone, kind of like Been There, Done That! My Phone is mainly just a Phone to me excepting for a couple Slots games on it and probably 3/4 or more of my contacts on it are all Work related. Anything you see me doing here is on one of my Laptops or my main PC.

AutoDesk was/is one of the biggest buy and bury champions.

I don’t do any social medias. My online life is pretty much this forum and a local sports forum.
