A Southern Cal retirement community whose inhabitants live to be extraordinarily old took part in a study in the 80s and now researchers are studying those still around. One of the extraordinary things they've discovered is that high blood pressure can protect you from dementia! Low blood pressure not so much. Coffee is good. So is booze. Vitamins are a waste of time. This is really fascinating.

Senile Dementia, Mini-Strokes, Congestive Heart problems, you name it. I'll never forget when my Grandfather passed. We were all in the Funeral Home and Grandma was sitting there talking with her sisters about all the stuff they did ages ago and their old friends like it was yesterday. Then when we went back to my Aunt's house for dinner, Grandmom asked "Where's Pop?" and my Aunt piped out "He's back at the Funeral Home in his coffin Mom!" and she just said "Oh," I think she lasted about another year before her heart gave out. I don't think I want to hang on that long.

My father was the youngest of 14. He was also the youngest to die at the age of 84. All the rest were in their 90's with the oldest being 102 when he died. All were very active and healthy until immediately prior to their death with no dementia or cancer or long hospital stays. Unfortunately, health wise, I take after my mother's side of the family and they weren't so healthy and didn't live quite so long.

Both my grandmothers lived into there mid 90s, my mom died in 2020 at age 98, and her brothers died in there 90s. I have hopes going past that with today's technology
