Bradish up and starting tonight. Now there's a reason to tune in at least.

They had 5 errors yesterday, so not just hitting and pitching.

Gutiérrez needs to be gone yesterday and they should call up Rylan Bannon from Norfolk who has a 277/413/400 slash line with 2 HR and 10 RBI in 19 games.

Alexander Wells to the 10 day IL will elbow soreness. Good thing Means is done on the table, so it's ready for Wells...

Aside from a few guys who have no business being in the majors (Lakins, Fry, Ellis), the pitching has been solid.
And now the offense seems to be able to score more than 2 runs a game.

Keith Meister's getting a boat!
Who is he? He is the doctor who repaired Means' elbow, and he just cleaned up Ellis' shoulder (rotator cuff and labrum), so Ellis is also done for the year.

A Rutschman and DL Hall both called to Norfolk. Highest Hall has gotten. AR expected to reach the majors before the end of May.

Hall will probably take a little longer but Adley could be up for the next home stand.

Same problems they have had for years: when they pitch well they do not hit, when they hit they pitch poorly.
Peter Angelos has replaced the once great Oriole Way with a culture of losing, and the Elias/Hyde pair have so far done little to demonstrate they can change course. Elias has vastly improved the farm system, from near the bottom to at or near the top of the rankings based on pundits views. Whether those players, once promoted, can grab and steer the team I do not know. I know that I am not going to spend money on them until they improve the product, however. The same way I wouldn't buy any other product I am not confident is of high quality. Bless you bless you bless you. For the last decade or two that is exactly what I was thinking. And I feel the same way about spending Major league prices to watch.........well never mind. I think I will be looking at the Minor leagues, cheaper, more friendly and hey, I am seeing the same guy here at 2/3rds the price of wandering into Bleedmore.

I love the home run chain the players are wearing. And it seems to have worked. 7 HR in last 2 games.

O's have won 4 of 5.
Should have a 5 game win streak if not for some sloppy play that cost them game 1 of yesterday's double header.
Onto St. Louis...with Adley Rustchman looking like he'll join the team 5/16.

I'm not sold on Odor at all but generally I like what I've seeing.

Bradish struck out 11 last night, walked none. Os won 5-3.
Currently 13-17 on the season.

They seem to not suck as much as expected. Yup. The best thing is Rutschman should be here by next week and GRod shouldn't be too far behind. So if they can tread water until then, the second half of the season could actually be pretty exciting.

The first rule of O's playing better is that you do not talk about O's playing better.

After showing some signs of life, they have begun losing again.
As I opined on the Harvey thread, I have come to believe that their goal is not to win anything substantial, but to just win enough to keep fans coming to the yards. To do more would cost more money than they want to spend. i.e. to actually threaten a playoff appearance might require double the expenses or more. Would that result in a corresponding return? I don't know, but I'll bet they have a predictive spreadsheet that offers them an accurate guess. And they will choose the strategy that optimizes income, whether or not that means winning.

Rutschman has been promoted. He will catch Bradish this evening and bat sixth. Only a two game sample, but decent start. Couple hits, walk and some other good at bats.

Rutschman's first MLB hit was a triple. Apparently, that is also true of Machado and Wieters, two other highly regarded prospects. #aproposofnothing We should enjoy Adley until he's a free agent and the Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers poach him.

Fun win last night. Lyles beats Cole and the Orioles score some clutch runs to come back from an early 2-0 deficit. They've won 4/5 against the Yankees and Rays. Not too shabby.
This team is a disaster defensively, and they aren't great at the plate either, but they can pitch well and they have a "never say die" attitude. This has been a lot more fun to watch than I thought.

It was a nice win. They do need to work on defense and plate discipline. There is a player at Bowie, Gunnar Henderson, who has walked 24 times vs. striking out 18. If only he could teach that...

Wells moved to the 60 day IL. A UCL strain, but surgery is not expected. (It never is, and it usually happens.)
