Can't say I've really tried but really can't keep up with the policy changes. Meh.

I think he's like Trump and other super wealthy people that surround themselves with yes men. Eventually they actually believe they're the smartest and know everything.
But yeah, I don't even have an account and I feel like I know more than a long time user like him.

Tesla missed earnings; Tesla drivers have reported that newer models have deleted certain features, such as parking sensors. I speculate as a cost-cutting measure. And he's screwing up Twitter. And his people had to destruct that giant rocket a few days ago.
I don't know how he deals with all the winning.

My take is the direct opposite. Musk didn't care how social mediA worked BM (before Musk). His goal was shaping the news a la Rupert but the online version. The only problem was that few of the media whales want to configure themselves to Musk's vision.

For unknown reasons, Celebs are getting their Twitter verifications back without paying for subscriptions.
Sounds like Musk overestimated the number of people who would be willing to pay for Twitter verification.

Just noting that Twitter hasn’t explained the changes.

The fact that celebs engage with regular folks on Twitter is one of the attractions of the social media app. They shouldn’t have to pay for verification. Musk took away their verifications without considering the importance of keeping celebs and public figures engaged on Twitter.

Musk took away their verifications without considering the importance of keeping celebs and public figures engaged on Twitter. It's a symbiotic relationship. Big plus for people who rely on being well-known. Letting celebrities slide at odds with the purported Twitter brand values. Musk lacks clear purpose here, or at least isn't communicating it.

The exodus has begun.
People are moving to a new app called Bluesky. Right now it is still in beta and invite only but that's where people are going.
Musk destroyed a really good thing.

I assume the new paid verification system isn’t going well for Twitter. Just noting that Twitter hasn’t explained the changes. He's waiving the payment for celebrities because they are big draws with loads of followers. There's the reason. One would think people would learn. A few years ago O'Malley instituted a $6/month charge on EZ-Pass. I, and many others, turned ours in and got them from other locations which did not charge a fee. So many turned them in that the Motor Vehicle Administration was taking six months to process credit card refunds. Earlier this year, Hasbro tried to impose onerous new terms and conditions on third parties making content for its Dungeons & Dragons game. Games rebelled; several companies banded together and are working on a new game. Their biggest competitor, Paizo, got a sales boost. Other competitors as well. They were forced to recant or watch their brand loyalty evaporate. You might get away with mistreating people for awhile, but how long depends on how badly you mistreat them. And you might not like the results when they decide to do something about it, like leave for a competitor.

“And boy, if you want a study of AI gone wrong and taking a lot of claims and trying to kill you every chance it can, get a Tesla.” --Steve Wozniak sinks a harpoon in the ribs of the Great White Musk Whale. The Apple cofounder first bought a Model S after he claimed that Tesla CEO Elon Musk reprimanded him in an email exchange for buying a gas guzzler in 2013. He basically got a lot of money from myself for a car, I believed things he said. That a car would drive itself across the country by the end of 2016. Oh, I had to upgrade to that model. You know, $50,000 and then it wouldn’t do anything,” Wozniak said. “I could tell it would never make it across the country, and he said ‘Here we have a new one with eight cameras, it’ll make across the country by the end of 2017,’” Wozniak said. “I actually believed those things, and it’s not even close to reality,” he said. “And boy, if you want a study of AI gone wrong and taking a lot of claims and trying to kill you every chance it can, get a Tesla.” www.investing.com/news/stock-market-news/apples-steve-wozniak-to-cnn-buy-a-tesla-if-you-want-a-study-of-ai-gone-wrong-432SI-3071741#:~:text=“And%20boy%2C%20if%20you%20want,can%2C%20get%20a%20Tesla.”

Compounding his Twitter woes is that Tesla sales have fallen short of production again, not a good trend for Musk and Tesla.

Twitter's not for everyone. For me, it's a way to keep up with the news. I don’t have an account. Don’t need one, I have you! I'm not the only one here who posts Tweets but I'm probably guilty of doing that more than most here. As much as the media complains about Musk, most journalists still use Twitter to express their opinions or promote their articles.

I have never had a Twitter account, and never will. I don't even follow tweets from people via their websites.
I regard social media as responsible for much that is antisocial in this country.
