There's some sort of design flaw where the gas pedal gets stuck. Sounds like a death-trap. That, and as Pickle mentioned, they are terrible on anything other than blacktop. They also rust/oxidize rapidly after getting wet. Speaking of getting wet, you have to put the thing into "carwash" mode or else it will get bricked.

Early adopters can be fickle. Companies whose business plans depend on what that slice might do are probably facing trouble. The government should possibly provide incentives for the manufacture of EVs (tax, mostly), but not mandates or quotas. It's worth encouraging them but not strenuously, at this point. The tech is still very immature.
I don't think Tesla makes a very good product by comparison to other products one might purchase for the same money. That's going to discourage sales, as well.

The tech is still very immature. It's not really though. That tech (brushless motors and lithium batteries) has been around for decades in the RC world. It's not a very complex tech either, vastly simpler than even the oldest ICE cars.
