Is this just more (D) newspeak, doublethink or will the Gov and the GA finally get on the same page?
Stay tuned.

Weed has been legal since July and has to be making a killing. Where's all that tax revenue?

I'm counting down the days until I leave this state. If we weren't helping raise our grandson, we would already be gone.

If we weren't helping raise our grandson, we would already be gone. All of our kids are out of state. My wife's sister left a couple of years ago, the other sister soon to follow. Both sets of parents are still here, but probably not long for this world (all in their 80's). We've been plotting our exit strategy and destination for the past year. Many of our friends have left too. I love Maryland, but we've just had enough. Only thing we'll really miss is boating on the bay, trading that for lake boating.

I was just in Florida. Hate the politics there, love the weather and no state income taxes. My friends all have plans to move there, maybe we'll follow them down eventually.
My parents retired in Bishopville, MD. You could throw a rock and it would land in Delaware. They almost made it to a better state to retire in.

We have it narrowed to Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, Wyoming.

Was it in a rural area? Some areas are exempt from the previous MTBE and current Ethanol additives which makes the gas cheaper.

Stay away from the county where the train station is (assuming you've watched Yellowstone). I haven't actually Wyoming is probably least likely of those. Wife isn't crazy about it; I don't think there's enough Asian markets there. Tennessee and NC are loaded with them though.

North Carolina is nice. Especially Asheville area.
I'd need to be on the east coast.

I had plans to move to the coastal border between NC and SC but then our youngest son announced that they were having a baby girl. We are slowly moving to Delaware (1/2 yr MD, 1/2 yr DE). I absolutely love our condo location in Delaware but all the new housing going up for the transplants is making it question my decision.

North Carolina is nice. Especially Asheville area. Yup, that's the area along with Knoxville, TN that are at the top of the list. Well, more in between Knoxville and Asheville, definitely trying to live somewhere a little more sparse than Maryland.

Yeah, that's the thing, you move somewhere because you like it, then it changes. We are keen on looking at growth trends, and plans of different areas as well as any potential for further development, such as unpreserved farmland which is always at risk. Also, no dang HOA!

It was difficult for me to leave friends and family but I have never been happier. Now that my son has moved here, only my sis is left in MD and she is only two hours away. My work brings me to MD often so I get to visit friends! Where are ya headed? We were considering NC in a few years but now that we have a grandson, I really don't see that happening.

Right now, top choice seems to be eastern TN, between Knoxville and Asheville, NC, near or on Lake Douglas or Cherokee Lake.

So my auto insurance just increased by $600 a year and has doubled since 2021. In that time zero at-fault accidents and my wife primarily works from home.
Forget the state you live in, which sure does play a part, but life in general is too damn expensive nowadays. And this is coming from someone withotu kids who is about to pay off his house. And makes decent money.
I don't know how others making less than me or living beyond their means are doing it.

I complained about the huge increases to State Farm last year and they tried to blame it on inflation. I told them that's a nice stock answer, but inflation isn't 35%.
Just another industry milking the post-pandemic to make up for a bad 2020.

Yup, she mentioned inflation too. Cars are worth more now, sure, but it's an insane increase that doesn't match anything tangible.

I absolutely love our condo location in Delaware but all the new housing going up for the transplants is making it question my decision. First grand kids was a main reason for leaving MD for SC/NC. Going into year 8 and our quiet little NC coast town is blowing up with all them retiring northerners choosing to sell their paid off homes and invade our sleepy little towns here paying ridiculous prices for new homes half the size of what they are leaving... driving up our insurance rates and grocery pricing and the invasion of Dollar General stores. Wait a minute...
