In a video statement on abortion policy he posted on social media Monday, Trump said: “I was proudly the person responsible for the ending of something that all legal scholars, both sides, wanted and, in fact, demanded be ended: Roe v. Wade. They wanted it ended.” Later in his statement, Trump said that since “we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint,” states are free to determine their own abortion laws. www.yahoo.com/news/fact-check-trump-makes-wildly-171244986.html

Trump has no core ideological principles so he is more pragmatic than most Republicans when it comes to this sort of thing. He understands how the abortion/IVF stuff will potentially hurt the GOP this November.

He personally doesn't care, but he knows he can give the suckers abortion bans and they'll support tax cuts and deregulation for people like him.

Another lie from a Bidenista who wants to talk about anything except Biden's record.

He is putting abortion where it belongs, with the states. The right to an abortion should be codified national law. Shame of the democrats for not doing that when they had the numbers.

Another Bidenista lie. Trump does not make abortion law. State legislatures make abortion law. Trump appointed the 3 SC justices that overturned federal law which allows state legislatures to make abortion bans. He brags about this.
If elected he'll very likely support Republican efforts at a national ban.
This isn't difficult.

If elected he'll very likely support Republican efforts at a national ban. This isn't difficult. How about you tell the whole story for once instead of just choosing the parts that support your agenda? In fact, Trump appointed the 3 SC justices that overturned federal law which allows state legislatures to make abortion bans or make abortion legal right up to the moment of birth or anything in between. See how simple and easy that was?
Honesty is not hard, you've just got to be decent enough to want to be forthright.
And speaking of honesty... Trump has said he would not support a national ban on abortions. So where do you get "If elected he'll very likely support Republican efforts at a national ban."?

Trump will say whatever benefits Trump, at any given moment. Trump said he'd get rid of ACA for years, even recently, and now he's saying Biden is lying about him saying this. Trump says a lot of stuff he goes back on. At one time he was a Democrat. This is the problem when you support an egomaniac and habitual liar.

Say this when Biden loses the election and creates an election fraud narrative that gets shot down in over 60 courts, still goes on to repeat said lie and his supporters storm the capitol over it and this post might be accurate.

I always get a chuckle when a Bidenista starts talking about mendacity. Uh-huh. Point remains. Trump lies so what he says about anything isn't worth a cup of piss. Biden lied 14 times during the SOTU address alone. And Trump turned what he said into action. Increased median household income to the highest level ever recorded. Lifted almost 3.9 million Americans off food stamps. Signed the biggest package of tax cuts and reforms in history. After tax cuts, over $300 billion poured back in to the U.S. in the first quarter alone. Lowered small businesses top marginal tax rate to the lowest in more than 80 years. Helped win U.S. bid for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Helped win U.S.-Mexico-Canada’s united bid for 2026 World Cup. Opened ANWR and approved Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines. Eliminated a record number of regulations. Enacted regulatory relief for community banks and credit unions. Eliminated the Obamacare individual mandate penalty. Provided more affordable healthcare options for Americans through association health plans and short-term duration plans. Approved more affordable generic drugs than ever before in history. Many drug companies froze or reversed planned price increases. Reformed the Medicare program to stop hospitals from overcharging low-income seniors on their drugs—saving seniors hundreds of millions of dollars this year alone. Signed Right-To-Try legislation. Secured $6 billion in NEW funding to fight the opioid epidemic. Reduced high-dose opioid prescriptions by 16 percent during my first year in office. Signed VA Choice Act and VA Accountability Act, expanded VA telehealth services, walk-in-clinics, and same-day urgent primary and mental health care. Increased our coal exports by 60 percent; U.S. oil production recently reached all-time high. Withdrew the United States from the job-killing Paris Climate Accord. Cancelled the illegal, anti-coal, so-called Clean Power Plan. Secured record $700 billion in military funding; $716 billion next year. Started to make the Space Force the 6th branch of the Armed Forces. Confirmed more circuit court judges than any other new administration. Reached a breakthrough agreement with the E.U. to increase U.S. exports. Imposed tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum to protect our national security. Imposed tariffs on China in response to China’s forced technology transfer, intellectual property theft, and their chronically abusive trade practices. Improved vetting and screening for refugees, and switched focus to overseas resettlement.

I think we can all agree that Trump's SCOTUS overturning Roe has had some unintended consequences for Republicans that they're trying to navigate through. This has resulted in some double-speak, "I never said that" level of stuff from many Republicans. And it has caused some friction on the right as people like Mike Pence and Lindsey Graham have criticized Trump for saying it should be up to the states.
Let's be honest, most people on neither side wants it left to the states -- they want a national ban or they want it legal nationally.
