Glad he’s signed and coming back. Situation was dire without him. That said it’ll be interesting to see how fans treat him. I imagine boo birds will be out in force when he has a bad game. Sure did seem like fans turned on him last year when he didn’t play in playoffs. As I said I want to see what the 'we owe you' dollars are when he breaks down. Prediction, he will be the Ravens version of Chris Davis.

I highly doubt the Ravens would make that trade, Lance has very little value at this point. Now if they wanted to trade Purdy, I think there'd be some interest. I want nothing to do with Purdy. Not crazy about Lance either. You can give me a Purdy, anytime.

I wonder if there's more pressure before or after pro-athletes get their big payday? Hopefully he stays healthy. I believe the answer is "before". You can find examples all over sports of men stepping up their game in their walk year, then reverted to the mean after they sign.

Did not like her in something called "Sapphire and Steel" which I found uninteresting. Now back to your Lamar thread...

I will fully admit that I am a pessimist and not an optimist. He now has two above average receivers, a third that has to prove he is mended and who knows what might come up in the draft. He has an All pro-tight end and Likely who, from what we saw could probably play anywhere as a receiver. And he has (theoretically) 3 running backs if healthy are WAY above average. So, the complaint he had (in some ways legitimate) that he had no other tools on the offense. Now it is up to him to stay healthy and prove he is worth the money. Unfortunately, when it comes to Baltimore sports..... particularly the O's..... with Chris being the latest example, making big commitments have not worked out well and have hampered the team. I just hope that the overhead with signing Lamar is not the case. Hence my wanting to know more about the details of the contract. And if they are available, I apologize as I haven't seen it yet.

Thank you Rael. As I pointed out ..... just like Chris D. What bothers me, is without knowing the detail of the contract..... specifically how much is guaranteed. I worry about him getting a boo-boo and decides he is going to sit out. See last years playoffs as a qualifier for that statement.

I finally was able to sit down and read a bit about the contract. OK, so.....at face value of what is available to us in regard to the contract. So, he could jog out to the first day or two of spring training...... decides to show off and 'dance' and blows a knee, or get covid, or or or . And then (again the tail wagging the dog) decides (week to week of course) if he is capable of even showing up at the sidelines during practice. Hey I am not throwing this all on Lamar. The "Show" and the business aspect of THE GAME has been displaced for decades now. I still remember when football players had to have a summer job to cover living. I still remember Joe Namath shocking the football world when he was paid $142,000 per year for 3 years. Which is $1,360,657.52 today. Again smh.

Yep, Johnny U used to come into the pharmacy where I worked. Just a regular guy. To be fair to Lamar and the team, I would assume the team has an insurance policy that pays off the money if he is permanently damaged.

I will be honest, I have a hard time worrying about being "fair" to anyone that is making those kind of dollars.... even on a rookie contract. The minimum rookie contract in the NFL is $750,000 in 2023. Now tell me, how many people..... that actually attended classes, went into debt to get a REAL degree are paid that kind of money..... regardless of the specialty, in year 1 after graduation? Yeah sure these players are exceptional. Compared to what? As a normal human being are you more concerned that a QB's completion rate is X. Or your surgeons success rate is Y or the graduation rate at a HS is Y. Just say'n

A surgeon isn't competing against another surgeon to determine his success rate. Apples and oranges.

A surgeon isn't competing against another surgeon to determine his success rate. Apples and oranges. Curious: I'm a Steelers fan but find this guy intriguing. No question he has a world of talent. But is he a head case? Or has he simply been plagued with injuries and is just frustrated? The money question is beyond me. Not really up on relative value of qbs.

I'd hesitate to call him a "head case", but he clearly wasn't/isn't serving his best interests by representing himself (and really, his mother seems to be part of this). The larger problem was the idiotic contract given to DeShaun Watson that Jackson felt was a precedent rather than an aberration.

Reminds me a lot of the 2000s Orioles. Some of the moves they made were decent and showed the FO wanted to win but it always seemed to blow up in their faces.
