I know it is, hang in there. My youngest son had 18" of his large intestine removed when he was 3 years old, being strong for him was so hard. It seemed as if they were torturing him but I knew it was for him. Oh, then you know exactly! I absolutely understand the helplessness. (((cyber huggs)))

PF, we appreciate the updates. Please keep us posted and don't hesitate to reach out if you need help. Can I bring a meal over? Omg com thank you so much for the nice offer! But that’s not necessary. We’ve got everything covered...visits, off-days to rest, and all that. We’re good 👍 You’re so nice 😊 The GI surgeon’s saying is “Save the man, not the colon.” Okay if you get into a jam send me a PM. I'm more than happy to bring a meal over.

Father,
I heard you this morning. I ask you now to show Your compassion, Your strength and Your power and heal these sons of Rael and PinkFlamingo.
Bring them home to their families, so that they may know Your love also.
In Your Son's name, we pray.

Surgeon just moved it up to next Wed! 👍👍👍👍 Please tell your son "good luck" tomorrow. Saint Luke, Most charming and saintly Physician, you were animated by the heavenly Spirit of Love. In faithfully detailing of the humanity of Jesus, you also showed His divinity and His genuine compassion for all human beings. We ask that you intercede with the Father on our behalf. We ask that He inspire the surgeon for PinkFlamingo's son and all of our physicians with your professionalism and with the divine compassion for their patients. Enable them to cure the ills of both body and spirit that afflict so many in our day. Amen.

We were told Noon. Then we were told 2pm. Now it’s 3:30 and we’re still waiting for an OR to become available. UGH!!!!!! His stomach is empty and they’ve been giving him 3 really strong antibiotics which is causing terrible pain. He’s getting morphine every 2 hrs but his pain level is a constant 8/10.
They’re saying it’s going to be at least a 4-5 hr procedure. We’ll be here til after midnight I’m sure. Thank you guys for your good thoughts 💓
Update- surgery postponed til tomorrow morning. It wouldn’t have happened til at least 9pm, so we opted for tomorrow. They stopped the oral antibiotics (so the pain will be much less) and with the morphine he’ll be able to sleep.

They started at 9:39am, and we just got an update that it’s going well. I guess this is the halfway point. 👍

He's done. He's ok. They took the whole colon, a bit of small intestine, a bit of stomach and a bit of pancreas. 6 hrs. Ugh. But he's ok.

Was this a more serious operation than envisioned? I am glad the surgery is over and I will continue to keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

I’m sure you feel the same helplessness and would switch places with your child in a heartbeat. Yes, more extensive. At the beginning, they were going to do it laproscopically, but on the scans they saw a fistula to the stomach and small intestine. When the surgeon got in there he saw more. Luckily, these are organs/parts of organs that people can live without.

He’s doing very well. Got up and sat in a chair today! No actual food or water for up to a week though.

So many tubes, drains and monitors Pain averaging 6 or 7, but he can press the button for morphine at 8min intervals. Vitals are good 👍 Every day will get better. Thanks for asking motr

D-i-l is there and sent a text - “He is looking good. Starting the tube feedings today. They are also waiting for a bed to open on a lower floor because he’s at a point where he doesn’t need as much monitoring. Good thing”
👍😊

So my son is missing the annual Nat’l Sales Meeting in Orlando this week. A couple of the guys took a headshot of him, made it actual size and attached it to a paint paddle and sent him pics of “him” at the airport, at the hotel and in the main room for the opening ceremonies. 😂
