And people wonder why RCs are not going to church …. duh! Double duh!
Can you spell hypocracy?
My head is spinning....you have pedifiles, you have non-heterosexual sex in the priesthood. And all we RCs get is smoke an mirrors and another letter of intent...on an on and on regarding 'fixing' those things.
But they drop the hammer on a none clerical teacher. Or the school is screwed. I dunno....hypocrisy AND extortion all rolled into one.
Smh....
I nolonger feel the 'guilt' of not attending church anymore. So I have a 'sin'.......I'll discuss it with Jesus and/or God when I see them. I got a feeling they will give me a pass.
I am absolutely disgusted.
PS; I am not a homophobic, you like someone of the same sex...fine. But, the audacity and stupidity of condemning priest for wanting to be married to a women....and gloss over the other stuff.
Old saying 'Physician heal thyself' is more than appropriate.
More and more....

I attend a protestant church where at least a third of our congregation are former Catholics. I have attended mass at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, also known as the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, here in Woodlawn. To totally upfront and honest. I felt MORE welcome and got the 'vibe' if you will that they were more concerned about praising God and his healing power of unity than I EVER felt in any Catholic church. Seemed like good people doing good work in the name of God as it was intended.

It is basically the American version of the Church of England which was the offshoot when Henry VIII kicked the Catholic Church out of England for not letting him divorce one of his wives.

The RCC fosters little doubt about its stand on gay marriage. This should come as no surprise to the teacher.

The headline appears to be inaccurate. They did not fire him for being a homosexual, they fired him for contracting a same sex marriage, which is a clear violation of Church teaching. Although I am sad that he lost his job, (I have been out of work and know what it's like), it appears that he had an employment contract which he violated. Did he not understand the contract he entered into? Does anyone in America know that the Catholic Church teaches that same sex relationships are sinful, especially those people who work for the Catholic Church?
I don't honestly know how this is "hypocritical," unless the Catholic Church allowed a Catholic man to marry another Catholic mam and then fired him. Please explain this to me.

Another misleading story title. Gets you all worked up and then find out he voided his contract.

When I look for moral guidance, I never consider the Catholics. They ceded their right to claim any sort of moral authority when they became an organization that routinely abused women and children, and that routinely covered that up. If they keep their noses clean - and I mean spotless - until around 2050 or so, they can ask again. That would be a period of contrition roughly as long as their known period of abuse. Until then, they ought to keep a really low profile.

Simply stated in the previous motr2/Guido2 exchange he said some vague comment as to why those people were fired. I was asking more or less ….was he thinking it was due to a contractual agreement or something else. And the something else is at issue here. That is all. Chill.

Look, the Catholic Church is RUN by gay men. It manifestly has no issues with homosexuality. He wasn’t fired for being gay. He was fired for breach of contract.
