Sexual repression, shame and guilt -- all major tenets of Catholicism -- foster sexual deviancy. Catholicism created pedophiles and then covered for them when they became priests. It's no different than abusive parents creating someone who will abuse his future wife, or worse. SMH. It's no different than what is happening with Islam. When religious authorities teach (brainwash) you to hate yourself, and others, because God has told you to, bad things happen.

People like you means for example, leftists. That doesn't mean all leftists and it doesn't necessarily include you. Your problem like so many here is you like to read things into what people write that fit your views instead of what someone actually writes. First, not a leftist. Just left of you, which describes, probably, 98% of the world. Second, why not simply say precisely what you mean? Ambiguity, of which you are a master, lends itself to misinterpretation. And I am not the only poster here who finds you, ah, difficult to understand. And it isn't because you're writing at such a high level.

Another poster trying to put into a box I don't fit in.

Perhaps the problem IS how you read.

It reflects a right edge perspective.

Yes, I am generally just to the right of center on most issues but not anywhere near to the 98% percentile. To paraphrase Johnnie Cochran, "If the box don't fit".

Maybe Archbishop Thompson should use some of his power equally to straighten out (take it as you will) the similar activities of his own priests. Man...talk about hypocrisy (yeah I spelled it correctly this time 😊) and glass houses and 'do as I say'. I have been a RC since the day I was born, yeah I drifted away..and tried many times to 'come back to the church' ...then I see this 'stuff'. I'll stick with doing what I think is correct in thought and deed and read the Bible from time to time. I think I am closer And I will discuss these things when I pass-on with God and Jesus. This is very very sad. The whole premise behind at least IMO is that we are to love (or accept) each other in some reasonable way even though the others are 'different'. smh

A contract is not a moral document; it is a legal document. Since this is a private school, it is likely a legal contract, though we will not know for sure unless the teacher challenges the termination action. True. But, one's moral foundation does influence the sort of contracts one writes, wouldn't you agree? I doubt the teacher has a solid case. He clearly broke the contract. I question whether the contract, and by extension Catholic teaching, is based on solid morals. And I assert that recent severe problems in that organization mean that it is not wise to simply assume so because it is a religion or claims divine inspiration. A lot of people claim divine inspiration. Most of them can't prove it. Many more fail to live it. Whether the contractis based on what you think are solid morals is irrelevant. While we will not know for certain until, and if, the teacher sues, it is likely it is a legal contract. The rest of it is not relevant in any manner.

What playbook are you referring to?

Please forward the name of your shrink or the drugs you take because if you are truly a devout Catholic then that is the only way you managed to dance around that.

It appears the archbishop considers all teachers as ministers of the faith, which would give the school leeway in setting religious standards for said teachers.

There are numerous definitions of sexual deviancy, and none of them appear to correlate with his/her views:

One of the many reasons I don't go to church anymore. The hypocrisy is pretty outrageous. I dunno… I thought Jesus said 'Love thy fellow man'...PERIOD. Not 'Love thy fellow heterosexual only.' And then, layer on top protecting pedophile priest to boot.
