Flacco is best QB on the Jets roster so it is weird for him to be deactivated. Agreed. Rumors are he's going to be traded - so that now makes a little sense. Especially given we're talking about the Jets - who at 5-3 actually have a little hope - and would probably be a better team with Flacco starting, or Mike White for that matter, as Zach Wilson is looking more like a typical Jet's drafted QB by the week. Good old Jets, ruining another QB. Maybe Wilson can eventually find success with another team like Geno Smith is doing now.

Flacco was demoted apparently to "allow Mike White to develop as QB2" - www.espn.com/espn/now/_/nowId/21-41117933-4That's a really peculiar move for a team that is supposedly in "win now" mode. Honestly, I hope they release Joe and let him seek out another team, there's definitely opportunities for him, I think he proved he can still play at a reasonably good level, certainly as a primary backup. But, after this season he should really hang it up.

I could see him hanging around another year or two as a back-up. Still has talent at this level, and as a back-up, he's still one of the best in the league. It's either that or go home and deal with your 8 kids.

Eagles look like the real deal but look at who they’ve beaten. Not exactly murderers row of the NFL.
Still you can only play the schedule you’re given.

With Tannehill as QB, I think Tennessee beats KC last night.
KC is the best team in AFC but they can be beaten. They can be run on and they can't run themselves.
Mahomes attempted 68 passes last night in a game they never trailed by more than 5 points, racked up 450 yards and just 20 points.

I know Willis is a rookie, but after the first pass of the game was for 48 yards, he completed 4 passes for 32 yards for the rest of the game including OT.

I still think Buffalo is the best AFC team, but they clearly can be beaten. The Jets defense is legit, and Wilson showed that he can at least be effective if he plays within himself. Man the Titans brought me back to my childhood last night, with Derrick Henry reminding me a lot of Earl Campbell. Vrabel has built a nasty, mean team that I think will be trouble in the playoffs. With Tannehill returning in a week or two, they're going to be difficult. KC can definitely be beaten. The lack of a run game will bite them, and against a run heavy team they could find themselves in trouble if that team also has a decent pass rush.

Buffalo doesn't run either.
That usually costs you in the playoffs.

Titans are one dimensional, and look like a bottom feeder now. Losing AJ Brown in the offseason was crucially bad. This observation didn't age well. The Titans are one of my two sleeper teams - the other being the Chargers, who if they can get healthy might be the best team in their division. Yeah gotta say, the Bills look the part right now. Long season though, and injuries could change things - see exhibit A, 2021 Ravens. This one might be spot on. Now Josh Allen may have an elbow issue on his throwing arm. If the Ravens defense is actually as good as it looked last night, and you have to believe if they stay healthy they can be - they might be the best team in the conference, and they have a great chance to get HFA throughout the playoffs.

Ravens can beat anyone. It's just a matter of whether they (and Lamar especially) show up in the playoffs.

That is, I see no certain losses. They won't win out; a team or teams will upset them. Can they go deep into the playoffs? That's harder to answer and depends on who stays healthy and whether the defense has corrected its early season deficiencies. Particularly that second one.

Smith certainly gives us some hope in that regard. A real nice debut.

That's harder to answer and depends on who stays healthy and whether the defense has corrected its early season deficiencies. The secondary still seems to have some issues, but maybe not "The Miami Game" issues. Peters in particular seems to be hit or miss - which has been the story of his career - he gambles a lot. Chuck Clark should be on borrowed time - as it sounds like Marcus Williams will be back in a couple of weeks, and Kyle Hamilton is starting to look like a hell of a draft choice. It's clear the addition of Smith was a significant upgrade in the middle and seems to also have helped Queen. If that front 7 stays healthy, they are a wrecking crew - and don't forget David Ojabo is coming, probably next game.

Sometimes taking chances pays off big, but sometimes... too often, earlier... it leads to miscues. The goal of stripping opponents seemed to come at the expense of solid tackling, to me. I am happy to see a return of solid tackling, even if that means fewer turnovers. Hamilton was slow out of the gate but seems to be blooming now. Chuck Clark at one time had the radio, meaning they felt he was a defensive leader. Whether that's still true I don't know, but his career is definitely drawing to a close, at least here.

The Steelers, fresh off getting Watt back, have lost Fitzpatrick for at least three weeks after he had to have his appendix out. That surgery can vary from fairly minor to quite serious, and the big determinant is whether the organ ruptured before surgeons could take it - a life threatening medical emergency.

Crazy weekend!
Bucs pull off a nice win despite trying to give it away with a dumb trick play that might rival the "Butt Fumble".
The Bills "Josh Allened" it. He's reverting back to his early form, and I am no longer sure they are the best team in their own division much less the AFC.
Vikings might be for real. Might be.
Green Bay v Dallas was a terrific game, and they somehow found a way with that limited offense to pull off a major upset.
The defending champs are done.
The Colts suddenly look like a fringe playoff contender with Matt Ryan back at the helm. Of course many people are lamenting the hiring of Jeff Saturday, saying he doesn't deserve it.
Anybody still questioning the Brian Daboll hiring? The Giants are an unexpected 7-2, and in second place, and look like the real deal.
The Steelers get TJ Watt back and stifle the Saints. Amazing how one player can affect a defense so much. Then again, look at the Ravens adding Roquan Smith.
Chargers just cannot overcome their injuries.

After losing to the Colts at home, will the Raiders lose patience and fire McDaniels?

The Raiders are a disaster of an organization. Insane to think they were in the playoffs last year and almost beat the Bengals.
I took a break from football yesterday so all I saw were the scores and the texts friends were sending me. Went to DC to see some friends I hadn't seen in a while and saw a movie. Otherwise, I would have sat in front of my TV for 10 hours again watching Red Zone...which is my favorite thing to do.

Eagles are in the same category. Eagles are definitely better than that Steelers team. That 11-0 was built on amazing defense that covered for Big Ben throwing 3 yard completions. As I recall they also played an incredibly soft schedule, including a game against Ravens 3rd stringers that they almost lost. They had one tough game against the Titans, but got really lucky at the end when the Titans missed a 40 yard FG or something that would have ended it. I even remember debating with my wife about them being good or not, and I kept telling her, "Just wait until they play somebody". Then when the Browns demolished them instantly in the playoffs, I was like "See?".
