Loser heritage month is more like it.
Not sure why so many people still cling to a failed rebellion built on slavery and white supremacy.
Get a life.

Thinking if I were governor of a state that has a death grip on the bottom ranking for health care, education, income this might not be a priority. But that's me....

What a loser.
Mississippi really needs to improve its image, not worsen it. It's a national embarrassment for a number of reasons and this made that worse.

There is nothing about the Confederacy or anyone who served it worthy of the smallest iota of praise. Mississippi fails hard, here. And the miasma of racism swirls thickly about their statehouse.

I wonder if the descendants of the Black folks in Africa who sold their Black brothers and sister into slavery will be participating.

I wonder if the descendants of the Black folks in Africa who sold their Black brothers and sister into slavery will be participating. I think the more accurate question is, do the nations in Africa where this occurred celebrate "Selling Black Brothers and Sisters Into Slavery Heritage Month"? I also wonder if Germany has a "Nazi Heritage Month". We should let the Confederacy fall into the bowels of history and move on. After all, it was failed rebellion built on the tenets of slavery and White supremacy. This is from their own text and speeches. Why should we celebrate that? Especially while much of the right is fighting against DEI and CRT?

Ironically, Mississippi recently changed their state flag to remove confederate imagery from it.
I wonder how 38 percent of the population, which is Black, feels about their state honoring the people who viewed them as subhuman and fought to keep them in chains?

Do you think that the only reason there was slavery in the US was because some Africans sold other Africans into slavery?

What other source(s) were there for slaves other than Africa?

Do you think that the only reason there was slavery in the US was because some Africans sold other Africans into slavery? Gee, I don't know. Why don't you explain it to me. What other source(s) were there for slaves other than Africa? So you do believe that the only reason there was slavery in the US was because some Africans sold other Africans into slavery. So according to you, it was impossible for the white slavers to get slaves by any other means. Their only option was to buy from Africans. Interesting.

It's like a Vegan who wants everyone else to be Vegan too. The Confederate states promoted slavery: a grotesque and cruel practice. Not worthy of memorializing. But by all means, have at it. Not like Mississippi has more pressing needs.

That's right, regardless of your opinion people still have the right (for now) to memorialize whoever they choose.
